Now, Microsoft has set the release Date for normal Customers for Vista to the 31st of January...so my question is: Do you buy it and ,first of all, why or why not?
Im not sure if I NEED it, but I am sure that I DONT like it...lol
So i voted for NO
I wouold really love to hear YOUR opinion on this!

1st issue is how buggy is the 1st release going to be? Personnaly, i'd never change a windows operating system to a new one until it has been on the market for 6 months, or the first service pack has been released.
2nd issue is MS are recomending that you need at least 1 Gb of RAM, so if you want to run top spec games your gonna need a LOT of RAM
3rd issue, Is it worth all that money? XP works.

In my opinion why fix something if it isn't broke XP works fine for me it as its little glitches but they are usually easy to sort out.

yeah asmo, my xp is running almost 2 Years now without crashing...but i had to "Customize" it...
I think this could be the End of MS...they putted 10 billions in the Vista-development and we all know how new MS products work...not at all

Personally and after experiences with Microsoft since 3.11, I will nicely wait one year or two before thinking about a purchase.

1 built in "anti piracy" software is a blatant invation of privacy that is actually illegal in most countries
2 M$ are already trying to "bully" people into buying it by encouraging developers to make direct x 10 exclusive titles and they have already begun shutting down support for XP
3 Vista requires absolute top end hardware just to run it's gui let alone games (think XP spec and quadrouple it)
4 forget backwards compatibility..ie be prepared to have a drawer full of games you cannot play on it
5 They're asking a stupid amount of money for it and if you have more than 1 pc you cannot get a multiuser key (you must buy a completely new Vista dvd for each machine unlike xp which allows you to purchase a second license at massivly reduced cost)
6 Vista is a complete ground up rewrite of everything to do with windows..no dos (not even an emulated one) and direct x 10 only goes as far back as direct x 9.0c (even games designed for 9.0b will probably not run properly)
so basically I wont touch it with a barge pole

first off all
all that Verminard said and all others
but the most important thing is that
do not change something that works /XP/
well you know that we will all go for Vista when they make us do that
but there is always our good oposition LINUX
people do not like when someone make them buy something what you already buy
why do we need to buy 2 or more copies of vista if we have or will have 2 or more PC
or if we change some hardware that they will say
"well sir you must buy another copy of VISTA " becouse .......

Well, Wolfie, you´re right, Linux, Ubuntu and other open sources are great! Just only one black dot for memwolf wrote: but there is always our good oposition LINUX![]()
so for admin work, as much as possible open sources, but for playing FL, I still will need a Microsoft tick.
oops did I say tick? the right term was plague :p
Bill! it´s whenever, here on The Void, any place, any time

No M$ = no FL?
Who said that? Oo
And Vista...
You know,mr TastyPie (aka BG) said on day of release "Vista is totally UNhackable"
Next day - Hackers strike back - the big image of middle finger on one of sites and below it - link to crack for Vista
Im really trying to find any working alternative to Win,but as for now,for different tasks you need different set of programs...

Plz, take a notice, that FL isnt playable in multiplayer mode if you have FLMM installed. FL telling you that it cannot connect to any server, modded or not. So, get yourself no-cd version of FL, install the mod under XP and then you can run it under Vista, but never install FLMM under Vista! Me and Cmmndr has tested it and found the same issue on five computers in more than 15 times we have been installed Vista on these machines. Another error under the Vista is that you will loose all types in the game. No text on the buttons, no server names, no text everywhere in the game! You can see the buttons but without the text. This bug was founded only on one computer. Other games are working without any problems.
I`m recommending you to have XP and Vista both installed to make your system more universal. I`ve installed them on two different hard drives and unpugged one of them when installed on another, to prevent OS-based multisystem boot. My motherboard have an option that let me choose what hard drive I want to boot from. I`m choosing the drive from the list and booting the OS that depends of the drive.
I like Vista. Its bugged somewhere, but it is more comfortable, faster and secured than XP.
Sorry my english. Cheers.
