Just I wanna add
Some PC experts are even giving up on XP and go for WIN 2000
I dunno why but something is wrong
well you know I think the only thing which will made us to use VISTA is tha software manufacture make it in a way that you must have VISTA to run it

You wont be surprised to know that MS has worked with a couple of the game manufacturers to coincide their game releases with Vista.

The idea being that the dx10 format will mean that they get infinitely better graphics etc with Vista and poorer with XP.

Another example of MS doing their utmost to get people to convert to Vista by exclusion.

Dx10 wil be supported in part with the new DX9 "L" release, sort of a half way house so that you can still run new games on XP, just not have all the bells and whistles of DX10.

My understanding is that MS reluctantly agreed to this only a few months ago when the game designers "clicked" that their sales were not going to be that good because many people will not xfer to Vista immediately because of a new game release and they were worried that a great game would just "bomb" beacause people would be forced to buy Vista.

Curently, MS seems to be backtracking on a few key elements of Vista, the other was OpenGL support. Originally, they were not going to update the drivers for openGL, thereby, indirectly forcing people down the DX route of Vista DX10 (DX gets better and opengl stagnates) After Nvidia and to a lesser degree ATI pressure, they have allowed OpenGL drivers to be developed for Vista, instead of using "wrappers" which they originally wanted to do. Obviously if a game uses OpenGL it doesnt have to run on Vista, hence the reluctance of MS..lol

In some ways it goes to show that MS dominence and dictation of what the consumer must do seems to be waning a little. It could also be pressure from other operating systems now making good progress and becoming a realistic alternative for people.

They're at it again.

It seems the xbox360 "killer app" Gears of War is headed for the PC..recent Nvidia Vista beta drivers make mention of fixing an issue with Gears of War in their readme files and just about everyone suspects that the PC version of Gears of War will be Vista only along with PC versions of Halo 2 and possibly Halo 3.

I hate them

If I do "aquire" ( ) Vista, itl be stuck on a seperate hard drive and I wont use it unless I absolutely have to. Theyve got XP to the point where it doesnt make the user angry every 10 minutes, and thats good enough for me.

The move to Vista will basicaly be the same as the move from AGP to PCI-Express - slow, and pretty painful.
