Sign of the Times
I hope that from the point of view of Strail and the A team I am not overstepping the mark here. I will try to be as clear as possible without giving too much away.
Strail is not paid to do this stuff for the VOID. Any open criticism of him is unfair and frankly pointless. He gives of his own free time to do this for us. Yes donations are asked and freely given by most, allowing those that cannot afford to the chance to play on this server FOR FREE. It costs you nothing more than the cost of your internet connection. You would ALL do well to remember this.
We are all human. You cant expect everyone to agree with everyone else at least not all the time. You cant expect people to like each other all the time. That is why this is a community. Unfortunately and unless there is a MASSIVE alteration in attitudes towards other players, the VOIDs and the ADMINS, and last but not least STRAIL himself,we run the risk of him loosing interest.
We all like to grumble and moan when things dont go the way we feel that they should, and to a point this is to be expected and tolerated. However there is a limit to what can be allowed to go on. Petty differences and arguments. Cheating and accusations of cheating are nothing new. Its just that sometimes it all gets out of hand and instead of getting on and playing the game we all get hung up on the whole issue, loosing sight of the reason why we come here.
It should be fun and we should enjoy it. If its not fun then dont do it - go somewhere else and play something else for a bit. But be careful. The VOID might not be here when you come back, certainly with the way things appear to be progressing.
Why should Strail put time in developing new facets of the Freelancer game only to be attacked by the very people he is trying to create a fun place to play for?
I want you all to take a VERY close look at some of your recent posts. I know I have. We are not all perfect and I dont expect anyone else to be. Some of us need to develop patience whilst others need to develop some cahones and stop being the cheaters that you know you are. Its a simple solution - dont cheat. Stop baiting other players in game and on the forums. Stop whinging at people who organise events and try to help out. Go out there and play the game that STRAIL has so kindly provided for you.
Failure to do this will result in the server being switched off. It realy is that simple. It could be switched off tomorrow. No notice. Nothing - just gone.
So make the most of it while you can. Wind your necks in - All of You. Settle down. Play the RP. Stop taking it all so personaly and BACK OFF from the Boss. Let him get on with what he does best. Do what the ADMINS and VOID staff ask of you. Simple as that. Obey the rules, play the game and scream on!

Re: Sign of the Times
This server is free to play on, the A's and V's and Strail gets dirt thrown there way by some people from time to time and there are a lot of other reasons not to actually keeping this place as it is. So why, might you ask, to they do this?
The answer is simple: They want YOU to have fun, that's why this is free, that is why this server has a awesome mod which adds so much to the game, this is why this place excists. Throwing dirt at the A's, V's and Strail is aboslutly infear towards them and the time and rescources they have put iinto this place.
So please, I beg of the persons who keep throwing dirt, stop and just play the game will ya?

=D> =D> =D> zeb, amazing
modding isnt simple, its hard sometimes, it might also become boring after hours of it, esspecially when people cheat
there is no way stopping cheaters, cheaters are on all games, so there is also no point moaning about it
strail spends his free time creating the void, maintaining, and spend his money on it as well...
im a bit dissapointed u dont respect that and go play the game, without flaming or moaning, or cheat accusations, AND NO CHEATS!
its easy to give up a mod, i almost gave mine up cause i cant make my ale effects work properly! (and thats a poor reason to stop modding

You wouldnt reply mav, you just said that!! Batty
Only joking mate.
Well to be honest, ive been a (put something here) ingame towards some players and i want to apologise. Also to Strail that some of us are messing up what he made. I would defintally not like it if the void would go down.
Zebulon, i totally agree with you. I'm sorry but i dont got much more to say right now. Never loved making huge posts anyway

Re: Sign of the Times
Yeah, you're completely right, Zeb. It's really easy to take a server like this for granted, and I've been guilty of it in the past. I know that the people who keep this engine running smoothly deserve a lot of credit, but now that I think about it, I'm not sure I've ever actually come out and said it.
So...without further ado...
Strail and the admin team, thanks for everything you do. You've really poured your soul into this server, and this mod. We wouldn't even know what the Void was if you hadn't spent those long, painstaking hours on all those new systems, factions, and weapons, and we wouldn't have this cool website, either. (It's too bad that it's getting eaten up by flames...) While it's so easy to ask for more - more weapons...more systems...less 3D systems...an FLMM capable mod...fixing the bugged ships...coming down hard on cheaters...the list goes on and on - it's a lot harder to realize that at the end of the day, what we have now is a heck of a lot better than nothing. I know that sometimes, you admins feel like nobody values what you do, but there are definitely people who appreciate it.
Server Guards, thank you for all that you do as well. You guys actually sacrifice your time in game just to enforce the server rules, and in many cases, you earn the ire of the very people you're trying to help. It's very much a thankless job, but it shouldn't be at all. I know that a lot of the time, it's hard to really come down hard on someone who's broken the rules, or is just a general pain in the rear, because you're hoping that they can change. It's tough to come down hard in general, because there's always the chance of being unpopular. But you know what? You've done it anyway, on numerous occasions. As long as I've been here, you guys haven't been afraid to put your foot down when the Void needs it most. Sometimes, the only way to change bad attitudes is shock therapy. Thanks for helping to provide that therapy.
And speaking of shock therapy, Strail has done this a lot, too, so it's only fair to mention him again...remember the Kids and Teens post? Things did get noticeably better after that, even though I'll admit that the forums seem to be getting a little heated lately. I don't know...maybe all of us should give it another read. (Not just the kids and teens, because who are we kidding? Fully grown adults have said some pretty nasty stuff on this forum, too.)
Finally, I'd like to thank all the other players who may not have designed the 3D systems, or fly a Moonfly ship with all the bells and whistles, but have still taken the time to make this server a better place. Without the FAQ team, the EVENT team, or the other players out there who help out in their own way, the Void wouldn't be what it is. All of you deserve a great deal of thanks as well. Kudos to you all - your work is appreciated, too.
So there you go. If anybody really wants to, you can throw the accusations of butt-licking the admins or Voids my way, but you know what? I don't mind. If you're going to make fun of me just for showing gratitude for years spent attempting to make the Void a fun place for all of us (including you, don't forget...) then make sure you understand the irony first.
So, once again, thank you to all that have tried to make this server a great one. Without you, the Void wouldn't be half as great as it is. You all deserve a big round of applause! =D>

C'mon guys and gals! Get it together. Stop all the nonesense and just play the freekin' game. Zeb mate - got yer six and you know why. Thanks for what you have done for me and for access to your server - nuff said. Without your help I wouldnt be able to post here or to play for that matter....! ;)
I get on with most on this server - then again Im rarely ever here to tick people off enough for them not to like me.
Just play the frakin' game and stop getting all wound up and in a twist about things you can do nothing about. Change the things you can. Above all check yourself! Fix whats wrong there first and maybe, JUST maybe, things will continue as we would like.

Re: Sign of the Times
Heres a simple reply.
The server will close if people continue to use the website as a complaints department.
I have no further interest in dealing with the same people who whine bicker and complain at just about everything that happens here. When I spend so much of my time trying to develop a flagging game and get nothing in return, not even peace and quiet its time to close the doors.
This was something I enjoyed and fed off the enthusiasm of others, now i get endless pms of people complaining about everything from the webpage to the server, mod and even teamspeak. I also have to reply and read a lot of the posts here (even though i dont in the main reply). When all your reading is people complaining and bickering, then you open your pms and read the same stuff, then you go in game and hear the same stuff it becomes apparent that whatever I hoped to achieve, I didnt. So some of you can smile and have a laugh about it because, yes its come to this. You have finally worn me down.
I have no intention of running something which I get continous grief over and over from. Guess what.....I dont need praise, I dont need people saying great job and all that. I need to be able to have a website which I can enjoy reading the posts on and feel, "hey, isnt it good playing freelancer in this community". Unless you realise that, this will go the same way as a lot of other servers, closed. And it wont be closed because of lack of players, lack of money or lack of ideas or lack of enthusiasm, it will be closed because the community doesnt give a fuck and continues to complain about anything and everything at any possible chance. Now theres a first......a freelancer server that is popular and closes because the community hates it so much that they can only post hate/bicker and flames.
I have said my piece and I really dont think anything will be done by you as its been going on for too long. Maybe you should be lining up your characters on other servers now, maybe you can go and destroy their community after finishing this one off.
Oh, before you decide that you want to get on your high horse and try and tell me about everything that i am responsible for...guess what, I really dont care anymore, you win.

Re: Sign of the Times
Get it ? Got it! Good. Now FFS - re-evaluate your approach and lets see some turn around here - or you can kiss this game and the website goodbye. The Boss has spoken.
