Free Lancer And Vista x64 problems

Post by mmmikezd »

I have Vista X64 bit version. My Freelancer worked just fine in single player and Multi-Player. My friend could not get Freelancer to work online. He brought his computer over to my house and some how we fixed his online problems.

I did have a couple LITTLE things that didn't work playing Multi-Playerso I un-installed freelancer and re-installed it. Now I can NOT even get a server list to come up when i click on multi player. Some Hos un-installing it and re-installing it made is stop working.

I have the freelancer mod manager installed and the VOID server also. Is there a certain way to install things? In a certain order? I have re-installed freelancer, Mod Manager, VOID 3 or 4 times now and i just CAN NOT get it to work again. I ahve this system on my computer.

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
Gigabyte Motherboard
8 Gig of high speed ram
EVGA GTS 8800 with 640 GPU ram
500 Gig hard drive space.

My system should rock freelancer's world. The BIG problem I'm having is that IT WORKED BEFORE WHY WON'T IT WORK NOW!!!!!!!!!!

PLEASE help me in getting this thing to work again.

Thanks

Make sure it is all ran as administrator. That includes installing the mod manager, and using it to activate the mod. Then make sure you have v7 mod, rather than v6. Then when connecting to FL server list, minnimize it and check that ur firewall/antivirus is not blocking it. Thats about it for what I can think of. Hope it helps.

When I put the CD in the drive I DO NOT install from there. I go to my CD rom drive and right click on the Icon that installs Freelancer (SETUP) but when I do that when I try to install the quick fix 1.2 update if comes up with this (Freelancer Retail Version Is Not Installed On this computer) so I can't install the update at all.

Go figure.

So you want me to install Freelancer with administrator privleges and The Quick fix 1.1 and the Mod Manager and the VOID Mod ALL WITH ADMISTRATOR PRIVLEGES?

IS THAT RIGHT? Maybe this time it will let me install the update. if not i'm going to install freelance without admin prev. and then the others with it. I sue hope it works this time. I have installed freelancer about 4 or 5 times now. What makes no sense to me is I had EVERYTHIGN installed before WITHOUT ADMIN PREVEG AND IT WORKED JUST FINE.

Sorry my cat keeps sepping on my Caps key on my keyboard.................LOL.

I'll try that and let ya know if it works.

Thank you VERY MUCH for taking the time to help me.

Thanks again.

bud when you cant get void on your list dont dink with the mod instead of that use direct connect and if you cant get list on the mod or direct connect restart your computer there should be a switch that turns your computer off in the back of your computer flip that than turn it back on that usally works just a suggestion :D

I have no Idea what you are talking about with that turning my computer off in the back. I don't turn my computer off that way.

When I start the game and click on multi player and then click on LAN or INTERNET the next screen should have some servers listed there. THERE IS NOTHING there. NO SERVERS are listed AT ALL!!!!

You have to have a MOD activated to play multiplayer. I activated the VOID mod and everything i should have to do and like i said before there is no servers listed where they should be even if i have no mod activated at all.

Thanks anyway.

What site.

when i start freelancer and cick on multi-player and the multiplayer window opens. THERE is nothing in that window. ok this is what i do from the start.

first of all the ONLY thing i have installed right now is freelancer. NO MOD MANAGER AND NO VOID MOD.

ok when i start freelancer i click on multi-player and then the mulit-player window opens up and it says connection to server and NOTHING EVER shows up in the server window. NOTHING to pick from, NOTHING is LISTED AT ALL.

i was told that if the VOID and the mod manager is NOT INSTALLED there still should be SOMETHING in the Multi-player (SERVERS) to pick from.

You know in that window it says things like VISITED and other things. NOTHING shows up in that window at all.

i did that and it opened my freelancer game and i then clicked on the multi-player and then the lan icon and it opened the window and BAM the VOID was on my listing.

i clicked on that and said lan and i singed online and was playing the game.

NOW why will it do it that way and not the other way i wonder.

i guess i'll just have to do it that way from now on.

thanks alot.

ok I will next time. I'm new to this site and didn't know better.

I think I'll try installing the Mod Manager and the VOID Mod and see if it might work now. even if it doesn't  I know where to get on now. I have a friend that has been playing on there for years but he didn't tell me anything about the direct connect thing.

Thansk again.
