I'm sorry but I'm going to butt in here because quite a lot of things said here are completely wrong and more importantly, create an incorrect picture. So I'm going to make a few things as clear as I can.
Don't take the quotes personally if they are not tagged with a name, I am using them to explain a few things.

First of all, A lot of people seem to have a totally wrong picture of the FAQ Team. It is not a team where everyone can just knock on the door and say "Hi, I'm a really nice guy and I would like to help other players because of this and that". The FAQ Team is an officially recognized part of the Server Staff, and more importantly, the billboard of our server. The FAQ Team is one of the things that sets this server apart from others. In times when Freelancer is middle-aged to say the least, it is of the essence that the image the FAQ Team depicts to new players, and through them to outside the server, is clear and focused. In order to accomplish that, we need to be absolutely sure that all of the members are on the same page on this, and each one of the members needs to be able to trust every other member with his eyes closed, since a lot of times FAQ members operate alone.

Of all the responsibilities, the fact that the FAQ Team has a big hand in depicting the image of the Void server to others, is by far the biggest one. The importance of this is underestimated by a lot by people who are not in the team.

My opinion doesn't count but Shon deserves it a bit because of his vast knowledge.
Its a pity the applications are closed but the silver lining is that this gives Shon a chance to prove himself that he can be friendly without a tag and maybe when applications are open he could get a spot in FAQ.

Absolutely disagreed. Having a vast knowledge alone does not make one automatically suited for the team.
Secondly - and let me stress this out very clearly - the FAQ Team is not here to offer players a chance to prove themselves that they can be friendly without using tags. If you actually need a tag to prove people you are friendly, the FAQ is not for you. Harsh but simple.

Now don't tell me that you prefer me like how i'm playing in this week...you can't deny that it's more interesting looking at flames.

With all due respect, I don't think we are on the same page mate. I for one prefer how you have been playing and behaving on the forum this week. It is far more interesting than looking at flames. If this is your opinion, I think you shouldn't apply for the FAQ when we have a spot.

I assume the quotes below are referring to what has been written on this topic. I am going to reply to it because I don't want people to have the wrong picture. Which this depicts, sorry to say.

I say the best way to see if Shon wants to be a helpful FAQ is to let him be one. There is no other way to know. It's not like the place will explode if it doesn't work out.

Disagreed - as I stated earlier, being helpful will not cut it. You can be helpful in your clan char, and be a crappy FAQ. And no the place will not explode if it doesn't work out, it will just make the FAQ Team look stupid.  %-(


Finally, what DO you need if you want to apply for the FAQ Team?

- A mature attitude, past present and future
- Enough experience of the Void server to deal with the bigger part of queries thrown at you
- Your present and past behavior should leave no doubts to anyone that you can be trusted blindly with the responsibilities of being in the team
- You have to have a heart for the Void server
- You need to be helpful by nature
- You need to be unselfish and modest

And something else:
All opinions respected, there are clear visions, values and guidelines for FAQ members. These are fixed and are not open for public discussion. Whether an application gets accepted or denied, is not decided on how the public feels about it. It is decided on the views of the ones who are trusted with the responsibility of taking care of  the well-being of the team.

Someone on this thread said to someone else that he should not try to be so serious, which is exactly what creates problems. A team like FAQ, which as I said plays a big role in players their first impression, should be taken very seriously. People who feel differently clearly don't understand what the team is about.


As Asmo said, applications are closed.
New FAQ members are normally selected by the team itself after being thoroughly discussed. Only in times when there is a high need of several new members, or in the case of open applications, the people who apply will be thoroughly discussed by the ones responsible, which brings up the very realistic possibility that the application(s) in question can and will be refused when the applicant is judged to be not suited.

I believe this application has ended. And since this topic seems to have changed from an application into a public debate about whether a player should be accepted or not, I am locking this, which I should have done earlier.
If people do not agree with the way FAQ applications are being handled, they are to send a pm to one of the admins. The ins and outs of the team functionality have been thought through very carefully and will be followed at all times.
