I depends on what I am doing at the time. If I am in a hurry, I pay, if not they got to earn it by a kill. Of course that doesn't mean that I won'f go pirate hunting later :D

player looting would contribute to paying taxes.. ppl load their ships with missales and torps and all kind of cargo.. so if the dont pay and die (in most of ocasions) they would lose few millions.. and pirates ask only 100 k...

Do not, can not, will not. Rather die a thousand deaths, and then some.

Much more interesting.

so lets put it this way..

u are more interested in doing nothing (doing missions and trading and stuf like that) than real role play.. why dont we have Hunter clans which would hunt pirates.. why dont we have clan wars.. why dont we have mercenaryes which would get payed to do our dirty job.. why dont we work out on that role play?

after all, playing FL is about RP, im sure u all played SP and u realize that..

seems to me that all of u ppl only care to be high lvl with much of monney and to be on top of the list by killing NPC's..

that is sad.. we forgot what's it all about..

I haven't paid taxes. only been confronted once with this decision once. And I didn't pay. I got killed(Anubis vs. Skipping is no contest). So what did I do after that? I asked a fellow clan member to be an escort for me while i run the trade route. Got done with my route and needed to get offline. So was this paying taxes? no. Was it RP? I believe so. I asked for an escort and he fought off the pirate while I snuck out the back to complete my route!

My friend, I agree with your thoughts. You have right, nothing more about it.
Just can´t envision, as navy clans - enemies in RP, pay tax.
We are in war with all X, we must fight to the death.

Its conflict situation, but within RP and our "no" is right too.
Question could be, what players in no clan.

Then fight the pirate for it and if you loose pay up

if you win then the pirate will sluk back to what ever hole he climed out of

if you dont then you are giving no one a reason to be a pirate there by killing the RP aspect of this game

suck on that mental lemon and when you are done feel free to poast again

Pay attention to the Pig's post. Did he pay tax? - NO

But, did he get others involved after he was killed? - YES

This is RP at its finest.

Merely paying the tax and moving on is not the point. He brought in help to defend his trading from the pirates. Nice job Pig!!

When I say " I dont pay tax " I meeeeeaaaaaannnn I dont pay tax.

Now for role play..... who said we dont role play ???
I never said I don't role play!!

Here's your role play:

Kill me you scurrvy Pirates if you can see me out of your one
remaining rotting eyeball.
Your ships are junkheaps that even the Rats are trying to escape from.
Don't get electricuted by the shorting wires hanging from your instrument
panels.
Ever heard of useing some of the water you steal to take a shower??
The Cardimine is oozing from your cysts.
The putrid stench makes the Bars less appealing to every thirsty pilot.
Go back to whence you came Thieves!!!

Have a nice day.

Well now, as soon as I get the WolfPack story up to date, we (the clan) will be all about role play. I believe in role play.

Also, I should mention that I have only once been asked, no demanded to pay taxes, I didn't. EXXIT died because of that. Pretty funny if you ask me, hehehe. But I was never ordered to pay taxes when I was in a frieghter, a little dissapointing I must say.

well, i have a pirate here.. hes almost finished his first year here.

And all i can say.. ppl who principaly dont pay taxes ruin the pirate/navy role play.

Think a second.. lets pretend this is real.
A pirate asks you for soom cargo or money. You refuse the pirate fights you. He kills you- you would have a great loss (your life, your cargo, your ship) and the pirate still some valuable loot flying around. Pirates raid for money; that clearly distincts them from Kill All type players.

Now lets see what the game gives us for that: there isnt player looting. when you die you just respawn with everything except cargo. Life is extremly cheap here.

So.. the only way to keep piracy at least a bit fun is, when ppl at least sometimes pay there tax. Else a pirate could just go around blasting at random and safe the "100k pls" typing.

One solution that I came up with and go by is that I will try everything I can to avoid the tax. That is what most people would realisticaly do.

Can I run?
Can I fight?
Is there someone around that can help me out?
Is this Pirate bluffing?

If all these answers are NO, I will gladly pay the tax. But I will try to find a way out of it! So there is your role playing from me!

I will help anyone that wants help with a pirate. I'll Take them on so you can get your trade route done!

How's that for Role Playing? would that keep the pirates around, or is it just about the money?

thats a definite roleplay in my eyes pig... make the pirate work for the money.

In fact i for my part HOPE i get organize resistance when im pirating, but usualy this doesnt happen.

What usualy happens is ppl f1 out of the fight or just respawn, which is hardly roleplay.

On a side note: the main problem back then when i was in HK and was the most prominent pirate hunter around was that no one called for help when getting taxed.. and i could only help when i know somethings going on.
