I actually don't understand what all the fuss is about.
The game comes with an 18 certificate in the UK, that fact alone should tell you not to let your kids play it so that completely overrules any whiney parents groups compaints (and yes I am a parent of two boys 13 and 11 and no they will not be playing MW2).
The option to skip the supposedly offensive material is just stupid, who's honestly going to skip it? When you buy this game you already know (unless you live in a cave) that the game is extremely violent, it's like renting a dvd of Robocop and fastforwarding all the swearing and gunfire.
The mission in question "No Russian" is integral to the plot of the whole single player experience, it *could* have been handled by a news report style cutscene but that simply doesn't carry the impact actually walking through the airport does, your C.O. tells you before you start that the mission will "take a part of you" which it does, both emotionally and in another way I wont spoil for those who haven't played it, but without this part of the story the entirity of the remaining story loses all meaning and relevance making it just another point and shoot game with flashy visuals.
Without this sequence the game would definitely be villifying Russians, which oddly enough is what the Russians themselves have claimed the game does (it doesn't, "No Russian" gives the Russians in the game all the justification anyone would need for what they do next. In actuality America is villified so much more in this game than anyone else and most of the playable characters are American!!)
We now in Europe have something Americans have taken for granted for centuries, freedom of expression, by banning this game it's creator's freedom of expression is being denied, which is stupid and wrong, after all no-one is forcing anyone to buy the game in the first place and if it's likely to offend you then don't buy it, problem solved.
PS The USA didn't win the cold war, NATO did and even then it's only kinda, the Soviet Union ran out of money which hardly constitutes an American victory now does it. Point of fact the USA hasn't technically EVER won a war by herself.

NATO, which is a military alliance created by the west under the cold war still goes under the category "USA" when set in that time, as those were the ones putting the idea on the board in the first place. It was about spreading the capitalism to other countries, also i got to mention their paranoia over the soviet union.
Again, this only matters when the time is set to the cold war..today NATO isnt under the category "USA"

Lol, I'm sure you'll find that the ONLY people calling NATO the "USA" at ANY point in history were the Americans.
Similarly the "enemy" in the cold war wasn't simply the "CCCP" (that's USSR btw) since North Vietnam, North Korea and China were NOT part of the CCCP, neither was Cuba.
Anyway, that's all massively off topic :P
CODMW2 is a fine game with a great story.

IIRC NATO was created by the west countries cause they was scared of the soviet union attacking them, not because they wished to spread capitalism.
might be wrong thou so

Actually most teens and kids cba with the age limit, they just see that it's a violent game and they all go buy it.
Some days ago, a french 13 yeas old (if i remember well) , had kill pulsions after he played a War Game (its name wasn't said, but i'm pretty sure it's CoD, as it's the most popular).
He posted on his blog : "Today is the last day of my life" , so he brought a gun and gone to kill all his professors, but in the end he didn't cause of all the police.
The matter isn't the age imo , it's the maturity.
You should know how to difference between Reality and Virtuality, before playing such games.
The normal guy begins to realize that when he's 18 and more, that's why it's forbidden for who are under 18.
But there is some cases that can realize that before 18, in my opinion.

I bought Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare...
I finished its Single Player.
It's just great, there is no content that really might offend young guys, except maybe blood.
There is no nudity content or such things, just blood and many decibels D:.
The SP is great, i gunna buy MW2 to continue the SP ^_^
Really i don't understand why it is +18, +16 would be enough :-?
It should be banned for guys 12 years old and under. Because of beginning of 13 you begin to don't be scared of blood imo lol.
