Time For Action Again

What the heck... what have I got to lose, everyone already knows I'm crazy anyway.
There has been a pile of threads running lately that in my opinion all have one thing in common. People are getting concerned with the way things are going here or are giving up on it.
Look at the number of players leaving. I couldn't begin to recite the list. (My short-term memory is shot) Why are they leaving... most cite RL reasons... IN ADDITION TO saying they are losing interest in the Void.
Meanwhile the people who aren't leaving are either shaking their heads asking themselves why are people leaving, or trying to figure it out and do something about it.
Look at the subject of the threads:
Clans structure and activity
RP: where has it gone and how can we stimulate it?
Taxing: why not?
Best trade routes gone: Why?
Is it just me or does anyone else see that these topics are all closely related and all together have a lot to do with why people are getting bored with the Void? These aren't separate problems. These are different parts of the same problem.
Remember when players had the endless mass battles they remember so well and long for today because Navy clans were strong because they had fun because they and pirates and other RP clashed because clans like Vagu and Netsphere were strong because there was interest in pirating because it was fun because they could terrorize the best trade routes because traders were there trading was fun because they could stuff their holds with cash because they needed the cash to fund their clans because they had endless mass battles....
GET IT?
I might be crazy but I'm not stupid. In my opinion when the best trade routes got cut off and at the same time taxation was eliminated it spawned the changes that has squashed the best aspects of the RP and player interaction that has attracted players to the Void in the first place.
If I remember right the rationale given for that change was because some players didn't like being taxed and being killed and just wanted to play the game. In other words they didn't want to play RP.
Ok fine.
One of the proclaimed hallmarks of the Void is that it's not just an RP server... it's a server for everyone.
Doesn't "everyone" include people who want to play RP?
In saving the fun for one group we've sacrificed the fun for another. And the players who miss that kind of fun are leaving.
And I for one find this a cause for concern.
Some time ago ideas were floated to make a non-RP tag. It was briefly considered but it died out because (and I remember saying this myself) it would create a lot of work for the Administrative staff trying to enforce it.
Well I've changed my mind.
IMO, for what it's worth, the way things have gone nothing could highlight the point that RP players abusing non-RP players would be a bad idea more than seeing how changes made to the Void to protect these player from abuse has taken the fun out of it for RP-oriented players.
And to kick that can a little further down the road... I don't know about the other [VOID]-tagged players but now that we have a larger [VOID] police force maybe we can now afford to try to enforce it. I know I would be willing to take that up and work it. Call it what I would be willing to do to help things get better.
So I propose trying the Non-RP tag and seeing how it goes.
-- Non-RP players wear the Non-RP tag. On ALL their characters. The cannot RP. They get to define for themselves how they want to play, and they can play their game the way they want to with no interference from RP players. They can red-dot and trade and whatever they want with no concerns.
-- RP players cannot wear the tag on ANY of their characters. The must not play their RP for or against any non-RP tagged players. Period. Deviating from this will get yo banned. Period. [VOID] can see your chars. If you're caught double-tagging (RP and non-RP) it's a automatic ban til you get rid of one or the other.
In return let the RP players have it their way. Give them the keys and see what this baby can do. Let them define how they want to play their RP's...Ttaxes? Killing? Wars? Whatever... they decide. They get to define how they want to play their game too.
Call this my new cause. We got the new server box so the Void could continue. Now let's get a new playing environment to use it for that will make everyone happy. Instead of coming up with reason why it's hard and it won't work, let's come up with ways to make it easier and make it work.

So there is a person with this 'NON-RP' tag, means i cant tax him while he trade or cant just kill him with an [R] char?
Ok, lets defend the newbies, but not with something like this! For example raise the underlvl kill rank from 20 to 30. This non-rp thing is not the best idea in the middle of the RP's. Imagine how many ppl gona use that non rp tag? All who wants to trade in peace, means 99% of the new ones.
Why can i trade? Why can i make a lot of money? Why am I dont get killed in every systems?
1. I decided to look for other routes
2. I pay tax to the pirates
3. If i see that there is a rogue in the system where i want to go i try to make my way there or call for a little help to take care of him till i can dok (hire navy for escort 4 example)
Here's an other thing, what most of the Admins/Voids not gona like to hear, but this is only a question (with my answer, what i think):
When the DTA was here there was more ppl online?
YES Why? Cause we had something big to fight with! Everybody changed tactics, tried out newones to try to defeat them! It was fun to fight with them! When they was here and came online GMT 8:00 there was about 20-30 ppl online! Now its GMT 7:01 and there is 17 online.
My big question is the next: Why are we save so much the new ones? If they need help cause they get PWN3D all the time the navy will help him, if HE ASK!!! Most of the ppl just start the moan and he leave the server, after about 3 days he will come back.
We all was noobs once, who taken care of us? I remember there was a guy, Apocaliptic, who helped me all along the begining. Showed me trade routes, ships, how to fight etc.
This is the way how things should work, if the Void spoil the new players they use to the Voids/Admins. Belive me if i say if u spoil them they gona annoy u after a time!
This is my thoughts, regards, Nuke

One of us is missing the point, Nuke.
No one is talking about "saving the newbies." Why do you think that? This isn't about protecting new players. It's about protecting older ones. If you understand it ,this idea is not to protect the "newbies" or the people who don't want t play RP.. This is set up to protect the players who want to play RP and protect their ability to play it right.
What I'm talking about here is letting the people who want to play RP do it and letting the people who don't want to play RP have it their way.
It's being proven that there are lot... and I mean A LOT of people who want to play RP. And they are frustrated because they can't play it the right way because the server is set up to protect the people who don't want to. You're not going to run out of people to shoot.
What do you mean about what people will do with that non-RP tag? You can't have both. If you don't want to play RP wear the tag, if you want to ply RP, don't. But you can't have it both ways or you get banned. I would be the first person to ban someone for having a non-RP tag on a ship and playing RP on other ships. That would be CHEATING.
Besides, like I said, seeing the way "protecting the newbies" has forced changes on the RP players will make them think twice about abusing this new system
The "way it should work" is that everyone should get to play the game they way they want to and have fun. Not make everyone play the same way.You can’t have everything. If you want to play good RP and shoot people and tax and all that, then you have to let the people who don't want to play RP have their fun too. Right now no one is. It's time for a change.
Let’s don’t try to find reasons “it won’t work”. Let’s find ways it will.

Lets see this in real, dont let this loose in the spam then!
There was a lot of tries to do some changes here, but not much changed. In fact i dont have any problem with this, only with this defend every new player and moaner.
I dont say it not gona work till i dont see it in the game, if we can try this, then lets try!

About Trade routes
100% agree. Trade routes are very important in FL, and VOID now has a problem with them
About TAGS&RP:
I always consider that any ppl that dont have X,R, H, Clan.... tags is not playing RP. It is obvious that those tags means RP, and it is obvious that not having those tags means you are a Freelancer.
So I dont think it is necessary to have any TAG to show rest of ppl that you are not RPing. And I think it is good to have non RP chars, because sometimes the RP can be a "jail", and I like to play in diferents ways
Of course when you have not tag you are playing with ppl that are RPing, like pirates, Rogues, evils clans..., and there is a console warning message that tell you. It is part of the good sense of ppl to respect other players fun. To have a non RP tag is not going to change anything
About Improving RP:
As I told in others post like this,in my opinion improving RP is a player responsability and not Admin. Admin support that with clans forums, faction tags, event team etc... but it is ppl duty to look for ideas, share them with rest ppl, etc... So the way to improve RP is to take it seriously by RP players and act.
I still playing freelancer in VOID because I am very commited with my RP, and because I have Freelancers chars, so I still getting fun here after 2 and half years. Of course I worry if I see players leaving, but it is happening since I started playing here, some leave some come. That doesnt mean that I think that some things could be changed, like trade routes, and more.....

IoI I know all the routes, and I didnt mean there are not routes, just that they are not as good as they could be. Improvements in trade routes are necessary in my opinion, just that.

Those are some nice ideas Watchwolf.
Yes i agree that more RP is needed and that tax shoud be rased.
There is a problem of bulying on this server, espetially bulying new players so then they get dissapointed and leave server.
Also there are to many players that use turms as:lagger, cheater, noob, spammer etc.I can understand that some use this kind of languague when they get irritated, but many players use these terms regulary and that does ruin the game.
Its not so good when you have to use /mute command so often.
Stricter rules for RP and rules of conuct are needed.
Only one problem with this-multiple MPID's.Trade with NON-RP mpid, transfer money to RP mpid.

Nice topic;
However I have a very different point of view about this. In the last half-year very important changes have been made in the Void, maybe it's time to look back and start thinking if they did more good than harm.
Don't mind telling me for what those changes were, I know that some changes were made in order to give new players a chance; but what happened was that those changes only kept here a bunch of new players that I believe they would stay here anyway even without the "server babysitting" rules. And why? Because new players that fight their way through the server in very first day till the day they are strong are the "good and wanted" players on any server, they don't moan they just live and breathe the server's atmosphere. They adapt and they should adapt instead of being the server the one to adapt to them. And while this was happening some interest was being lost by the Elders (veterans of the void). So let's take a look at some changes (not sure these are the most important so just look at them as examples):
Were the tax changes good, when it was dropped to a 200k max? Maybe not.
Is the Alexandria no-pvp issue (even with the 50lvl up thing) solved? Maybe not.
Is the server motto still a "Screaming On!!" or is it just a "Crying on!!" with the moaners prevailing? Sometimes it feels like it.
You know what? This speech almost reminds me of the Bloquade speech, and hell yeah! That bloquade was probably the last real thing that made all the server feel alive!
Now back to Wolf's idea, the non-RP tag. I can see it's a good idea but I feel that it's one of those ideas that works great on paper but will never last on action, hope you understand me m8, but the idea itself implies a lot of conduct and supervision from all players and [VOID] teams. And like Babieca said, not having any tag makes him a Freelancer and for me freelancers are the ones that don't RP (but I do admit sometimes I see them as cannon fodder). What I see is that players with a "non-RP" are the ones that can red-dot and do some trading without getting theyr butts on flames... well why don't those players just play the singleplayer mode instead? It works and it isnt bugged anymore.
So Wolf my friend, I know you're trying your best to find a solution here but I don't think that is the one that is gonna do some real changes around here. Maybe with some different aspects.. don't know, i'll be reading this topic often and if I remember something that could help, I'll post it.
Till then,
Cya later alligators

Lol that was quick, while I was smoking a cigarrete after my last post thinking on Wolf's Let’s don’t try to find reasons “it won’t work”. Let’s find ways it will. I found this idea hidden:
In order to have RP first we need a plot, Wolf you're the man to do that, write a plot (like Kusari is in War because of some artifacts found and got stolen by order or something). After we have a plot, [VOID] chars should do another char with some tag specially designed for the plot we're talking about. Those chars can wear some admin stuff (but not making them invincible). So it would work something like this:
1) We have a plot, a role-play story, something that would make clans think where they fit in this and taking sides.
2) We have the action, [VOID] chars should do some kind of "army" that would bring chaos/order somewhere in void. Clans should join together to defeat them or something like that, maybe they could join that new army in the war.
3) Post the plot and all future episodes from this RP on the website mainpage.
4) Spread the RP feeling all over sirius.
This idea is still too young, too fresh so of course it needs lots of improvements... feel free to add your ideas into it. Or just let it fall in forgotness.

yeah i like idea about something big that all clans should unite and defeat or something like system blockade where good guys should clear that problem
also RP nowadays is really messy and almost no one do that thing
bring bounty option . just need something new which make ppl be more interesting : what will do in next hours maybe war maybe new enemy maybe blockade or maybe someone show up and bring mayhem
also need to look in hamburg server they have some cool options and ppl always there in evenings server is always full
so think about real changes make that ppl be interesting to play
AND SCREAM ON !

Hello peeps ,
Although I dont play as much on Void as I used to , I do read the Forums quit a bit .I have read all the stuff about taxing , clans etc .
My thoughts on the subjects are as follows ,
Clans who want to play on Void should have to have a Clan license in order to trade fight etc ( I know some other players have mentioned this before ) This would take the form of a fee payed to admin once a month 200mill or so , up to admin to set target) . I feel this would get rid of the Clans that last 2 weeks then dissapear , if you and your clan mates are comitted to your clan , then you trade for the cash to keep the clan alive .
This then would encourage more Pirating in the form of taxing etc , ergo more clan trading , more taxing , more defending your clan mates from the pirates .the Navy clans would then have more work to do defending new clans trying to get their stake together , etc , etc , you get the picture
I feel its far to easy to set up a clan on here , Always felt that way (yes I know about the leadership hardships etc , but if you are a clan leader , thats the price you pay )
make clans work at being a clan ,
I feel the reason a lot of peeps leave the Void is boredom , (no big clan battles/Wars , no reason to trade apart from buying the ammo etc )
As for the RP tags , good idea , not everyone wants to play the RP thing ,
well thats about it for now
laters mates ;)

I agree with you lads entirely.
RP has kinda grown stagnant on the void and something needs to be done to stimulate the RP situation.
I did raise a post about a non-RP tag some time ago but of course it was never considered. We seem to view things completely pessimistically as the idea could have totally worked, instead, we looked at aspects of people abusing it and loopholes which people would use to get around being killed.
I think the idea was that someone could not trade with a non-RP tag. Traders would be indicated strictly by their [T] tag and are susceptible to taxation. The non-RP tag would then be purely for those who want either a little time out or want to learn the ways of the server.
If it was implemented, It would be nice if the non-RP tag was only intended to be a temporary solution for players to get to know their way around, with overall intention to join RP. That way, perhaps the server could enforce RP a little more and some new players won't feel left out.
Equal opportunity trade routes need to be established in different areas of sirius. The problem always was that one trade route would simply be more profitable than the other and I know it almost sounds a little marxistic, however, if there were a few trade routes earning around the same cash, then it would encourage traders to trade on different routes to other people, generating more hot-spots for pirates around the server.
The taxation limit should be banished. Taxation in real society is based upon how much someone earns, most pirates tended to tax individuals according to their level. I really don't recall many events where a pirate has forced a noob to dish out 5 million of his wages in order to be left alone.
Without taxation, pirates may as well just be rogues. I think that it is evident that there are more rogues now than ever before. From experience on different servers, I rarely saw rogue players as the pirate RP was simply more ideal.
Without equal opportunity trade routes, people will continue to trade the same routes again and again.
Something needs to be done about this now, not in the future or when the next mod comes out. To be honest, it's almost like as if the new mod is simply fictional and is just ideology used to keep most of us happy for the time being.
I don't understand why even the simplest of problems still cannot be fixed. The ship bug I've heard about still exists, the armor bug still exists. If these can't even be fixed, then how are we ever going to fix a community which is falling apart due to lack of interest.
I most likely reckon this post will end up droning on and on or either be banned basically outlining that we are being repressed as a community. We all have valid views yet none are rarely considered.
Admins please consider some of what us players have to say.
Regards
Lloyd
