Freelancer - The Void

Freelancers it looks like the DKH and others are more interested in payoffs than stopping the cardamine traffic. Thats good for us. The run from Omicron Alpha to all capital planets is wide open and paying great. Now if the prissy law dogs stop you just offer them a pay off.

Zeb read the report from the AoF.  The deals had been struck, and the cardamine, despite the best efforts of the law, was still flowing.  This was good for business even though Zeb himself had no liking of the stuff.  It was very much an [OUTCASTS] thing - deeply embedded in their culture.  Its traffiking had brought great wealth to some and sudden death to others.  What was interesting was the reports implication that a fledgling organisation by the name of the IFU had been growing in the background, making cash and fast.  

Any economic movements always interested Zeb.  What was even more enlightening was the fact that the Cardamine addiction had infected the Nomads also.  In a never before heard of event, the report stated clearly that a member of the DKH had "done a deal" with a trader! This puzzled Zeb as it was as disturbing as it was unusual. Equally so was the fact that the trader was prepared to keep the identity of the rogue Nomad a secret.   Swift death followed on the heels of those that defied the DKH code of conduct, not that any human could realy get to grips with this chameleon like tribe, whos behavior changed on a daily basis almost like a hive of insects obeying the whim of their Queen...

Zeb went over to his desk and placed the disk in the autofilers "IN" tray.   Seems to be that certain members of the AoF had also been trading and dealing with the DKH.  This would bear further investigation as the DKH needed to gain their wealth from somewhere.  Zeb made the call ........

Freelancers listen up in my decades of trading I have learned much about trading and I share this experience with my group. Things such as various routes locations of arms caches and what people to "give gifts" so your trades go smooth. But I will be upfront I won't be to forthcoming with new members some info I have to protect. Names and locations of our secret partners for example. I have to be sure new people aren't corporation spies or police.
  Now normally I would consider a group such as the AOF as an ally but the information I have is tha the DKH has more than a little say in the operation of the AOF. I think my informants exact words were "they are closer than the quarterback and the head cheerleader" I remember my informants first declaration to me " rules are for me only when they suit me" I knew then and there I owned this guy.

08:00 SUT (Sirius Universal Time). Hash wakes up and goes to the toilette like everyday after a short time in bed. Just when he's almost finishing his wife shouts from the living room:

-"Have you seen this? in the newspaper? They're talking about you're alliance"

Hash takes the newspaper and in the "Admin's today" section finds a interview made to Zebulon. "Seems to be that certain members of the AoF had also been trading and dealing with the DKH" stands in capital letters. He reads more and more while eating a banana and says:

-"...err..what?"
-"They say you're trading with nomads or pirates!!"
-"Well, yes, you know we do that. We trade everything with everyone, remember? That's one of the main reasons why we try to be neutral to everybody."
-"Yes, but this guy,....hmm..Zelbolan or whatever. He says he's going to investigate you."
-"Don't worry. We allways follow the rules and try to be nice to others. This is not about us."
-"Yes, that's right, but, ...we're you going now on saturday??"
-"Bussines."
-"hmm...ok, but could you first...?"

30 min later one old Skipping Stone full of scrathes abbandons Nereid.

Zeb replaced the receiver.  Money was always the first concern for any business even if the source of it was somewhat dubios.  Sadly the close associations with alien and unkown powers can lead to weakness and the eventual unseen take over of an organisation by outside influences - but there lies the world of business.  On the face of things not much had changed.  What lay under the surface could be a different matter all together.....

Hash phones Kevlar and tell him bout the news...

"Okay boss...i'll be waiting for the update.Cya somewhere when you know where it is"

Kev goes into his room and dons his flying suit that doubles up as a protective suits to cools his body temperature, well what do you know, being an alien that dwells in cold places he certainly hates the heat.Off he went to the launch pad,hops into his Viper Heavy Fighter and prepares to leave Zeta-Leonis...

Ahhh  The profits are great here. I move easily about the systems running whatever cargo I wish unmolested by Navy or pirates. This galaxy could support many many FL and it will be a wonderful place to establish ones self. I look forward to making enought money here to retire to a very pleasant planet.

Poor pirates!...That's the reason they can't tax players, everybody tax them ,and no enough credit 4 pay the pyrates!
