Sigs (Relates to EVERYONE)

Hi guys i just wanna put some points and views across that i have had after observing some of the sigs etc that are on the forum. I would like to point out that this isn't a rant but this is just a general observation I have made and im sure lots of other people have.

Ok here goes... Sigs, Why do people have so many? or in fact have seriously LARGE ones... It feels like i have to scroll through about a page worths of sigs before i get to the next persons post. Now, don't get me wrong i love sigs, they are a great form of art and they really do show peoples individuality and imagination when its comes to making sigs which is ofc really cool. i also like the fact people can show there sigs and show them after a post because people are proud of them.

But i feel some people are over using the privilege and its just too annoying scrolling through countless sigs to get to the next post. Now some of you may argue that you can turn the sig function off... Sure that is a possibility. But what if the person is like me and likes to see the art work people can do? For me i wanna see it... But i don't wanna spend years scrolling.

Also some other things that people should take note of... sig sizes and numbers also put load on not only the web server but also other peoples browsers so it takes people longer to download files. Now i know a lot of the files are being upped as a PNG, But these are still pretty large files. So the web server will take longer to process requests having to fetch all the off site images and your browser will have to do exactly the same meaning you get a slower browsing speed and lower usability.

So how can this be fixed? Well the first way would be to put on a restriction on how many sigs and bars can be put into a signature at any time. Now this for me would be a pretty simple fix max 1 sig and a couple of bars...  Or lots of bars etc, that would really need to be discussed. maybe even two smaller ones would look neat and tidy and not use up too much space.

Only your first post per topic shows your sig is another way we could sort it. Personally i think this one isnt as good as the first.

So hopefully you see what im trying to get at in terms for sigs etc. it just seems people are using a ridiculous amounts of large sigs or just having one absolutely large pic thats just insane. I just hope you guys also agree.. And please don't flame its just a simple discussion that will help a lot of fronts in my opinion.

So lets see what people think.

I subscribe what you said Greaver. It is indeed very annoying to see huge times of loading a single forum page just because of sigs.

Please ppl, take in consideration size (Kbs) and dimensions (width x height)  of your overall sigs.

This can only be solved by common sense, no use on limiting the number of bars and so on.. in the end all comes to common sense.

Example: my sig's size is 9Kb, even a 56k modem can handle a dozen of those real fast  :P

Not only does it slow the page loading - due to off site graphics, its a constant scroll to read replies.

I am not sure if my sigs are too much or not, and the fact that one is moving aint helping either of course. Fact is I like em both just as much and next to that, two people have spent a lot of time making them for me, removing them doesn't do them justice.

I changed my avatar to a static one, hope it helps a little bit..

it wouldn't be so bad but you also have a lot of text in the sig which increases the size, For me your sig bar is a bit too big.

If it was possible to implement a dimension limit for signatures then why not implement one for the size aswell?
I've noticed 350x19 bars with a size of somewhere between 500000 to 800000 bytes...now if you multiply that with 200 posts for example then you'll get yourself a nice bugger for the page load.
The number of signature used (bars included) should also be reduced to a maximum of two.
I actually came to the conclusion that using multiple-huge signatures is just childish and useless.
Some people really need to get a grip...or a life.

I think he ment the quotes from inside of the red Signature: "Madness is coming" and "-=Reavers Firefly=-" (i could be wrong though)
I did check the size of it though and 106797 bytes looks pretty resonable to me.
100000 bytes is actually more than enough for one signature in my opinion.
