It's not  the money, is all about the fun at an event. This is my opinion.

Agree with all of you. Maybe ... before an event ... you could make an announcement on forums, or if it is posible to create ranked pvp system... Create more events, not only pvp, create a trade run event, or escort, race ( going from a station to other through 5 or more systems, free for using only cd's and just 10 cm's  :P ), etc....

I wasn't there because i was'nt online ...  :(  and you know that i like to kill Syndicate ... even for free  :P

Maybe pplz R not interested in events(personally i'll participate very rarely)cause most of them dont need events.
cause, u made a new char with 10 class, transfer the money, and it will be 90 class.
Maybe if the rank will gived by kills (in pvp and npc killing)and a minimum level be needed 2 buy some specific ships or weps, many players will be more active in game.
4 example,if U have a billion creds but no kills,rank remain at low lvl. If U want enter in a sys. where U can buy Anubis(4 example)let say U need 50 rank. 4 buyng the ship, U need a hier rank, again 4 Lasers more hier rank, 4 armor upgrade hier, and... etc...
Could be interesting no???
If U want create a setup on yr ship, U will forced 2 make many kills(missions , etc)

That sounds like a cool idea to me Lizard. But maybe it should be discussed in the mod section, as it really involves some changes to the mod regarding jump gate access and such. Thanks anyway.

St_Ares: I agree with you that events should be about fun. In that light, I have opened a new suggestions thread, which you can find here.

However, pvp events have always been the most popular type of events here. So it would be wrong to not keep them around and try to make them even more fun. Hence my idea of a 'VOID Fighter of the Month'. But next to that, I am interested in new event ideas, which could be fun to everyone on the server, including the new guys and gals. You can post any suggestions in the link I provided above.

 Let say, 2 avoid overkilling and such of moaning, only in specific sistems winner pvps could increase yr rank-like EFZ-where only agreed pvps R accepted, and event winners could win money and also rank prices

If you win a tournament, you will want other people to know that you beat all other opposition and are the best fighter there. I love these ideas.

At first something like this would probably be dominated by just a few people, but then others will want some recognition too and try and become better and reach the top. Then those at the top will get better to hold their position. Win-win.

If somebody doesn't join an event because of that, in my opinion they are daft.

How can you gain the skills if you don't try?

You only get better at something if you do it. Bleh.

Event s are hard buddy,

a few things I did to make people participate

1. a high reward, for the bounty ( one hunt was a 200million, granted that was outragous, but how could you pass it up) ussual bounty for killing Markus was 20mil

2. a bounty hunt, where the hunted does not avoid the high activity systems, ( he has to be a bit of a taunter too, gets people all reaved up to play)

3. get a buzz going for a big event, post a consule message, hit the forums

4. few and farther between, no one likes to lose to same three great pilots every FFA fight, no one wants to sit for two hours every day to do a tourny. Make the contests every other day, of twice a week, make people want to participate, cause your not going to do it everyday.


These are just what I learned when I was setting up my Markus hunts. I happen to have the character that just bugs everyone to no end, so a chance to get paid for his death builds the excitement.

If you get a dozen players turning up to an event you are doing realy well.  Its not about the money but the "prestige" at least thats the way I get round the apathy - its a good place to practice and try out new setups, and it should be a bit of fun and games even if you do get "zapped" early on....!

Running events is not an easy thing.  Coming up with new ideas that work is also tricky.  The old fashioned PvP stuff works cos its what people are used to.  Dont be too disheartened.  Try running one for those who are not so experienced in the realm of PvP.  Its difficult because you always know that there are one or two "ringers" who wont pass up the opertunity to take out "noobs"...!  It can all be in how you advertise your event.   Get em all in Rhinos or Triceratops for a knock around tournament with basic weapons.....  :)

i always had loads in my events i think its because i did different things then just races and 1 v 1 pvp.

dock wars wer good fun as was the black legion birthday bash which was full of different events even a starflier pvp which was funny as hell.

but i always wanted a league to be done same ship same set up and points for kills and at the end of month the prize goes to the guy with the most points. just an idea i guess.

and I MISS THE ALMIGHTY  RUGGSIES QUIZ OF MUCH RANDOMNESS AS HIS QUIZ WER ALWAYS GOOD FUN.(RUGGS GET DOING IT AGAIN)

All of that is the reason i rarely host an PvP event.
I prefer my ideea of Dock war or GOOD Vs EVIL
BTW i will start again hosting  events by ships, i'll make an announcements on that
