Dear Void Community,

I'm sorry to inform you that Michael Perchard [HFC] Exerharden [X], former [VOID] Ezerharden, passed away early yesterday morning. He is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl, and their 3 children, Allan, Stephanie, and Ryan.

During his days on Void, Mike was player, server staff, and leader of HFC (Heavy Fighter Coalition). He was passionate, outspoken, loyal, and soft hearted. Mike treated his online friends with the same loyalty and care that he would give to a friend IRT (In Real Time).

May his memory live on, in the hearts and minds of those whose lives he touched.

Thank you for the kind words Tonya, I know my dad would of appreciated it. He always did everything in full force. I remember being in high school and telling my dad to look into this game called freelancer. At that point I didn't know the effect it would have on him or the lives it would have touched at the time.

We started playing this little space flight game and I remember it being so cool. Flying around doing missions, and then we started playing online and finding the persistent servers with the community factions. He thought it was so cool and wanted to be a pirate so he could run his little quadrant of space. So we created a clan of Pirates. Back then when we started HFC I believe it was just Firefighter, Stonyman(my dad's IRL best friend), Ezerharden (my dad), and Karragin (me!)

I know he made a lot of friends in his time in Freelancer and helped a lot of people through the years with the countless hours of chats and we've even met a few of them IRL. I am honored to have had Ezerharden as my dad, and I will always miss him.

I love you Dad. Maybe now you can fly among the stars.

My deepest gratitude,

(HFC)Karragin

You're welcome Allan. I'm very thankful that you got your Dad into FL, and set up HFC on VOID. Your Dad's strength lives on in you.

I am so sorry to hear about Mike passing and your loss.

Mike was a lovely guy and was fun to be on the server with. He had fun setting up HFC here and getting involved in the clan wars with others. He was a calming influence as a VOID as well. It seems such a long time ago now but they were the time of great memories and fun for many of us.

I still don't think that MS realised what game they made and what affect it had on so many people. FL was the first game that totally immersed me and when I went online it blew my mind to see so many like minded people out there across the world. I think Mike also had this feeling when he started playing the game.

I only have good and fond times that I remember now with Mike and HFC after all these years. I'm sure Mike is flying among the stars, killing Orion clan members and taxing the unsuspecting Freelancers.

I'm very sad but have nice memories...

I know quite a few people have seen this post but because they don't visit the site very often probably thought it was too old to comment or pass their feelings on. I think no matter how long its been, feel free to post if you knew / played when Ezerharden / Mike was on.

Hi there im new here. FL was a great game. I just passed by and created an account but now I found this sad post. I feel really sorry to hear that the creator of all this passed away. Now I can guess this server is going to be empty sooner or later so sad to hear that too. I really liked FL and enjoyed it long ago.

(Im from Argentina)

Best wishes to all. :( :( :(

I do not read the forum often. And I did not notice this sad news.
Although it's been a long time, I still remember. Honestly, I do not know how it is in English, I hope it is right.

My condolences Karragin

I appreciate all the support. It's been almost 6 months now, and I have been thinking about him a lot. If anyone who has any stories or interactions with Ezerharden they would like to share I would love to hear them.

Have a safe flight, Ezerharden. May the navy never catch you.
