Re: Persistent Connection Error!
Did you try uninstalling everything to do with Freelancer with Safe Mode and reinstalling everything fresh, from this site?

There are a few people here running FL on Vista.
If you still have no luck, try posting "vista" in the title of the post, this might attract the vista users to help you.
I run XP and so can't help I'm afraid,
I wont be changing until Vista SP1 is released, learnt my lesson on XP all those years ago

Re: Persistent Connection Error!
Try disabling all of you sevurity programs, i.e anti-virus, firewall, adware blockers / removers, etc. Try it then, if it works turn them back on one by one til you find which one is causing the problem. then configure it accordingly, or replace it. If ths does help, please let us know which program was causing the problem, and what settings solved it..
If it doesn't sorry.
I myself run Vista home premium with Nod 32 for AV. spybot and vistas firewall, and have no problems.

Re: Persistent Connection Error!
What antivirus Software are you using mate? Some antiviruses block the servers from showing due to their firewall. Try downloading AVG Antivirus, it's free and lets FL run on it.
I am also running Windows Vista Ultimate and FL works fine for me. All i had to do was download that new antivirus.
You can locate the antivirus on the "Links" section of the forums.

Re: Persistent Connection Error!
I am running Vista, i had the same problem... now i have found a way to work around it. Basically Vista doesnt like FLMM. What i did was i downloaded the Void mod, extracted it using FLMM. Then i went to C:\Program Files\Freelancer Mod Manager\Mods. Then there will be the void mod, open up that folder, select everything... then copy and paste it into the directory of C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer.
I know you had said that you had already tried manually activating the mod, but before you do all this, make sure that in FLMM that the void mod is deactivated.
Hope this helps.
If not, then the other way is to uninstall your current Anti-Virus software ans install AVG, it has no problems when you use AVG.

Re: Persistent Connection Error!
Ok guys i have pinpointed the problem. its my internet connection. i went to a LAN at a buddies house last night and opened up FL just to see if it would work, i got the server to pop up on the list and i connected no problem. now for some reason at my house i cant connect. i do have a router, its a linksys (WRT54GX2). i was wondering if any of you know if i need to change any settings to connect? i can log into my router so if someone knows what to do from there thatd be great, thanks.
