I can't connect to server

Ok, I haven't been on or touching Freelancer for like 5 months or so and I forgot all I knew(not in game, there I can still kick you all ), not that I knew much but still...


anyway, I installed Freelancer, Mod Manager & Void mod at May 4th 2008, and when I go on MULTIPLAYER-->LAN/INTERNET no server appears. I don't know what's the problem, but someone please help, I would like to play there again, it's not because of game itself, it's more because of this server, mod and most important; people in it




ps: I use Windows Vista Ultimate

Firstly download the shortcut below.

Simply place it on your desktop and double click it.

When the game starts go to Multiplayer / click Yes / then click either LAN or NET - you'll see the server.

Void Direct Connection

If you have a widescreen monitor download this one. It is the same as above, it just launches Freelancer in windowed mode.

I know this works as I'm using it myself.

This message appears when I download either wide or non widescreen. I mean when I press Open on one of them, anyway, I played Freelancer before on Vista, it worked, without this thing, I dunno what's wrong now......

Try this.

1) Find your FL icon on desktop.

2) Right click, and select proprties.

3) Find the box labelled 'target'.

4) Clear the box

5) Copy and paste this into it:

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\EXE\Freelancer.exe" -s85.14.217.82:2302

You should then be able to see the server in the list.

Same problem here  Already tried all methods mentioned here, and in other topics, still i even don't see the server. Darn, it's about 2 weeks offline by now, i really can't say where the problem lies... Any suggestions will be welcome. Thanks in advance for help people.

Now KODIAK, as I see that you are the most active admin these days, you will find char named "Skeleton". I need you to help me to reestablish it again. I already tried in the past to use my MPID, but it couldn't work, I tried every option, for tht you can check with KAHLESS.....he said that it is possible to transfer chars from 1 MPID to another, or something like that. Well, I need you to do that............just tell me when can I see you in space so we can talk about this.

It should work on every operating system as you are only replacing a Configration file with a new one.  There is nothing to install nor something EXE or Installiation based.

This is how to make it work.

NOTE: Before you do it.  Back up the "freelancer" named configration setting in the "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\EXE" folder.

After ::

Goto:   C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\EXE

Then go into the downloaded folder and find the file called "freelancer.ini"
Once you have found this file.  Go to that place you searched for "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\EXE"

Copy the "freelancer.ini" file and paste it in the EXE folder.  A tab will come up asking you to replace, move or delete.  Press the first one which says "Move and Replace"
Another tab should show.  Press "Continue"

The file should of replaced the old one.  

Done ::

It should work on all operating systems as i used it on WIndows Vista Home Premium 64Bit.  Worked fine, and my friend also tried it on Windows XP, also worked fine.  I am not sure about the other OP systems, like Mac.  But it's still worth a try.

Firstly I'm glad you’re able to see the global list again.

Secondly, at present I have no access to the server, so it will be impossible for me to clone your character for you.

Your best bet is to talk to KAHLESS nicely and see if he’ll do it for you.

Yes those Klingon's can be hard to find with their cloaking technology. Just follow the smell you'll find him.
