Vista Users - Update

Please let me know what your Anti Virus is working with Vista when playing Freelancer, so we can update the white and black list for new users.

They have a tough time of it enough trying to get it to work, so we need to make sure we update the Anti Virus list please.

So, if your running vista, please name and shame the problem ones (Black) and list the ones that your running and playing FL with (White).

I had AVG (paid full version) and it worked for months.  Then I couldn't connect.  I went through all the hoops with tech support and after uninstalling a part of AVG (Web Shield I think) it worked... for a week.  Then I couldn't connect again.

I have since switched to Avast (free) but did not install the part that is similar to AVG's Web Shield.  No problems since, but I do kind of worry about how protected I am.

I have AVG and ti worked fine for all the trial period I had it, maybe there is something in the paid version that ain't in the trial?
I have also played FL vista on PC with Avast and NormanAV.

as of right now, any AV i try with a resident shield is keeping me from playing  :-??

I have the standerd windows defender, have never had trouble with freelancer. I followd the steps and that worked the first run.
I do have an grafics problem with freelancer. Most planets are more or less invisible. I see the circel, but can see right trough the planet. Aslo Sparta base is black.

hmm that sounds like missing textures, try reinstalling

Sparta city is also black for me , but planets are ok

Norton antivirus is just a complete no go, get rid of it.

Also was having major problems connection to anything, On MP LAN - nothng was showing Global nothing showing Net nothing showing direct connect didnt work either. This was after a lag spike last night, So there were no servers to click on.

Rebooting my router fixed this.

I used AVG before but few weeks ago it updated it self and from that moment+PC restart i wasnt able to log on any server.
Now im using Avira AntiVir Personal in conjunction with Spybot Search&Destroy and it works pretty well
And I have black Sparta City too and planets r OK.

Well I see I've got exactly same problem like you m8.  I followed tutorial on these forums too and game was running online after first try. Honestly I have same problems with graphics in game, Abandoded city is fully black, and I can see through the planets like Manhattan. And also I've problems with my FPS in game..I can't get more than just 61, even my laptop surely could handle a lot more. I tried few more games and I can really get more than only 61 with no problems. I'm just confused about that, seems something is blocking me, but I really don't know yet how to fix it.  :|

Btw about AV programms, I'm trying trial version of NOD 32 and everything works well in MP games.

i read a while ago that FL (DX8) would have problems with FPS vista and such, so im going to post the link here (DX8 -> DX9 convertor, and its not improved graphics)

Im using Nod 32 Av with Vista Home Premium. Never had a problem.
