Chapter VI: List of commonly used abbreviations and terms

In alphabetical order:

• A-Team
  Server Team of admins, more specifically those involved in the design, updates and maintenance of the mod
• Admin
  Administrator of the server
• Anni
  Short for the name of the Monkey weapon 'Annihilator'
• CTD
  Short for 'Crash To Desktop' - this happens to your game if you have an invalid mod installed
• EFZ
  Short for 'Elite Fighter Zone' - a system located behind the Sparta system, specifically designed for PvP practice / training, without being interfered by other players
• FAM
  Short for 'Freelancer Account Manager' - the program that manages the easy use of multiple MPID accounts
• FLStat
  Short for 'Freelancer Stat' -  Written by Cryogenius, this program is basically an HTML based filter, pulling data from the Global Freelancer Server to display the highest rankings in the world regarding NPC kills, number of missions completed, number of systems visited, number of jumphole and -gates found, player ranks, etc.
• GF(s)
  Short for 'Good Fight(s)' - directed to your opponent and commonly typed into the system, group or private channel after a victory or defeat, in order to show respect to your opponent
• 'Go'
  Directed to your opponent(s) previous to a fight and commonly typed into the system, group or private channel to start a fight
• Jellyfish
  Other name for Nomads, referring to the semi-translucency of their ships
• Lag
  Technical term for having a delayed connection. It takes time for your computer to send data to the server, and to receive data back from the server. The longer this takes, the higher your lag is.
  However, we commonly don't speak of lag, until it is clearly visible.
• LMAO
  Short for 'Laughing My *ss Off'
• LMFAO
  Short for 'Laughing My F*cking *ss Off'
• Lol
  Short for 'Laughing Out Loud'
• Loss
  Refers to 'package loss' and is a technical term for lost data packages as they make their way from your computer to the server, or vice versa. Package loss is almost always due to a poor internet connection.
• Mod
  Short for 'Modification' and refers to the custom-made environments created for the Multiplayer versions of games. The Void mod is a clear example of a mod. Mods or often hosted by a private server.
• MPID
  Short for 'MultiPlayer IDentity / IDentification - this is the code that includes all of your server account settings, such as chars, names, weapons, money, logged time, location, etc. etc.
• Nomie
  Short for 'Nomad'
• NPC
  Short for 'Non-Player Character' - every computer-driven ship you see in the game
• Ping
  Technical term for the time it takes for a data package to travel from your computer to the server and back, measured in milliseconds.
• PMSL
  Short for 'P*ssing MySelf Laughing'
• PvP
  Short for 'Player versus Player' - online fights between 2 or more players
• 'Red-Dotting'
  Refers to a style of playing which mainly involves fighting NPC's
• ROFL
  Short for 'Rolling Over Floor Laughing'
• RP
  Short for 'RolePlay' - a style of playing a game in which the player plays the role of a fictive personality or character
• Tizzy
  Short for the name of the Robot weapon 'Tizona Del Cid'
• Vanilla
  Refers to the unmodded (unmodified) version of a game
• 3D-Systems
  Systems in Void, which not only have planets, bases, stars, asteroid fields, gas clouds, nebula's, minefields and other space phenomena on the horizontal plain, but also on the vertical and diagonal plains.

Anni is a term also used as an abreviation of Anubis the ship

FTW = For The Win

BB = Bye Bye

W8 = Wait

STFU = Shut The F*** Up

THO = Thought

THRU = Through

IMO = In My Opinion

IMHO = In My Honest Opinion
