Oh man that's sad to hear...  :( now I only have the Black Legion and ESF as targets  the Reavers were the only ones that I really feared, after all the idea of getting caught and raped by them always kept me on my toes.  I'm sad to see them going.

The balance of power has shifted again and now the Lawful clans are more powerful.  Its kinda the way it should be tho, the navy should rule and the bad guys should have smaller clans who cause trouble.  Every now and again the evil clans get the numbers up and gain some power only for the navy to come back strong again.

Anyways, goodluck with whatever you get up to in the next chapter of your Void adventures.

Hmmm.

Mav, I have always respected your decision in any occasion, because you always have a good reason for your actions. When I first saw the post, I was stunned and gutted. Then I read through the entire thing, and I came to the realisation that it's kinda the right thing to do. I have been worried about the lack of numbers and the timezone differences for a while now, as well as my own inability to do any good for the clan because of my timezone and my lack of in-game time. I have been trying to think of a solution, some sort of advertising that isn't going to fizzle out or attract the wrong people, but there really isn't one.

I respect the amount of work you have put in to make this place, the forum and this clan work. For the time the we had, it was pretty good times, lets be honest . I am going to miss the hell out of the -=REAVERS=-, as you may know, this clan has been pretty important to me. But I think it's better to leave it as it is rather that running it to the ground with inactivity or recruiting randoms, spoiling the heart of it all.

As for me, I think I'm going to spend most of my time NPC hunting, and on my [AoF] characters.

Couldn't of had a better Clan leader. And Draugr your kind of spirit and dedication to the -=REAVERS=- is exactly what we needed. We just needed it out of more people. Thank you very much boys! Cya out there.

Haven't been around much due to other pressing concerns. Not sure how much I can offer to the Void anyway, with things the way they are. Only so much of me to spread around, and with parts starting to drop off that's even less to share.

This comes as no surprise, Mav and I discussed it at length. That makes it no less sad though, to see your child fade away. Wish there was more I could do.

Mav's done a great job taking the reins of the -=REAVERS=- Mob. This is not his fault. Membership waned to the point of being practically non-existent. Yes, we have had a core of extremely loyal members. It grieves me to see their reactions. No one wants to keep the Mob going as much as I do or Mav does, but reality sinks in after a while and to be honest, reality sux. In Mav's defense I wonder where this support from our best members and the Void at large was when he was recruiting and when he was desperately trying to bolster the -=REAVERS=- presence in order to keep the Mob active and the feared presence it once was. To be honest, I personally had the impression that the Mob wasn't very well accepted, respected nor wanted as a Void presence. Most of the public conversation toward the Mob has been negative since it's inception and again after its resurrection. That image was supported but the lack of interest in recruitment and in the general attitude toward us when in conflict in-game.

So while I am not happy about this I understand it and support it.

Rest assured members aren't going away. SOme of us have plans. The rest, I hope will find their onw way to terrorize the masses.

GL in whatever u do,u really did a good job with the Reavers site though,what will happen to the site,it will die a natural death?

On the other hand u learned a lot of things while making the site so that will help u in the future and will be with you always.

Imho,i think what u really need is some kind of an umbrella association,or community or loose group which can be your home always.
Though Void is the community here to which you belong to but maybe you need something more because you have been moving,shifting and founding new new clans.

Don't get me wrong but i think you need a solid base,a 'permanent' roof over your head in the form of an umbrella group or something like that to which you can always belong to.

But that depends on you, good luck.

In my mind , Void needs More Evil Clans , when i see a Server Like BSG , i see 60% of the server is Evil (a.k.a Eastern alliance).

Why this hell Void ? ......

I agree with  [-CDF-]TITANIUMCR on the balance thing.
It seams to me though that a lot of players are bored with clan life and search a freelancer's independence.
And this is one of the main reasons for why some clans are going down... not pointing to REAVERS !!!
Again, I am sorry to hear this, and I am especially sorry for MAVERICK, because I know how much effort he put into this...
Him staying in FAQ and continuing working for VOID after announcing the disband of REAVERS, is a wake up call for me.
There are still people who are making sacrifices for this community. Makes me wanting to do more.
Nothing happens with VOID, something happens with us, our values in game, our incapability to sometimes distinguish RL from RP and our display of pride; and I still hope that Strail is watching and makes a plan for a new stage in VOID's life and not his doom...
I can bet anything that a lot of old and retired players, former members of clans, quietly came back as freelancers and are out there. Bet you anything!
As bad things go for clans or all of us, you can't leave VOID...this place is under your skin.

I've let this run for a while as I was curious about the amount and type of reactions it would get. And in all honesty I have to say that I am very positively surprised to see the level of support given to you all on this thread.
It is nothing less than heart warming to read all your posts indicating that the Reavers indeed seems to leave a void on the server. They also indicate that the RP of the clan was respected and appreciated by many, more than we thought.

Both Watchwolf and myself have put our heart and soul into the clan. And I know I am also speaking for him when I say that it touches me to see that the clan we have spent so much on, will be missed by many. Thank you all for that.

There is just one thing. Why wasn't this kind of support communicated to us when the clan was still alive? Why? Why did it seem to us that most of the players didn't even seem to like having us around? Or even called us names when they saw us?... Can anyone explain that to me?
I know one thing for a fact. If we had seen just a little more support, this might not have happened. It wouldn't have dealt with the rest of the reasons to disband, but as with all things, a little more appreciation or interaction shown to us in-game, could very well have given that little bit of extra push to not give up and keep fighting. I'm not saying the support was completely absent, but it was totally overshadowed by the negativism.

And that is something that can be very frustrating and discouraging, when you are working so hard to create something different, and possibly fun for a lot of people.

I couldn't have put Watchwolf his words any better than he did.
The most important thing being that I am not going to turn my decision around. For one reason: it wouldn't be fair to the members. I already hit them with the news quite unexpectedly, and I am not going to toss them from the left to the right by re-re-viving the clan once again. Even if I did, they would lose all in faith in me as a leader who can make up his mind, and they would be absolutely right doing that.
And to tell you the truth, it would not work. As WW said, the time for the Reavers is done. There are too many factors working against us. I (we) have given it a lot of thought, and considered all the other options carefully before coming to this decision. Our clear conclusion was that it indeed was the only option left. We would never have the Reavers fade away as one of those dormant clans which do have one or two tagged members flying about every once and awhile, but really without any point. It's better to prevent that.
Besides, I think Kumori makes a very valid point. Even if I were to decide to turn this around, I am very doubtful how many of the people who now say they think the clan should stay, will actually join the clan, or do something to help otherwise.


I would like to point out a number of other things. Please allow me to pick a quote from Xenon for that.

There are different sorts of recruiting. Different clans choose to follow different policy's, which thus involves different methods of recruiting. Some clans choose to do as much active recruiting as possible, and indeed are very successful in doing so. The result in this case is often great numbers and a lot of active members playing in game all the time.

Then there's the other approach. This approach does not focus on active recruitment, but on communicating a clear clan profile to the outside, which is in some way different to the mass, and will hopefully be noticed by some players because of that. These clans do not - or very selectively - recruit actively. They feel that active recruitment has one big disadvantage: with effectively trying to recruit every player you can, you automatically decrease your quality threshold, and with that, attract a different kind of players. Players who are clearly fairly easily convinced to join a certain clan prove, by that, that they do not have as much a mind of their own than players who choose to approach a clan member and ask if there is a chance for them being accepted into the clan of their choice, consequently going through the appropriate selection and trying their best to succeed, because they really want to join.

I agree with 'Having a Strong leadership capable of recruiting at all times'. Yes, every leadership should be, and is able to recruit. But being able does not automatically mean they will also choose to follow that path. As I have attempted to explain above, some clans deliberately choose to follow another way to go about that.

'Convincing recruits to join', as Xenon puts it in his quote, has never been the Reavers way. We always stuck to the second option. This 'quality-selection' is the kind of 'recruitment' we have chosen to follow in the Reavers from the get-go. And we have stayed faithful to it till the end. But at the same time, this was part of our ending.
Quality selection also has a disadvantage. It gets you lesser numbers. And in a time where numbers are lower than they used to be, this means that you will get even less interest. Let's say that you would normally succeed in getting 10% of the server population to apply for a position into your clan. Nowadays that would mean 4 or 5 members, tops. In that light, I think we have done well with almost 20 members in our peak period.
Nonetheless, this might have still worked out for any other clan. But the Reavers also had their hard-core way of playing their RP, which - unfortunately - was and still is not easy to do for most. which again didn't help getting the numbers up.



I think I can conclude with stressing out that my decision is final. Reavers² (Reincarnated) has come to its end. However, if there are so many of you who believe that the balance of the good and evil clans is off, and the disbanding of Reavers leaves a void on the server, may I suggest you use your motivation by doing something about it. Start an evil clan.


With all that said, it's time to draw the line under this chapter. I would like to express my gratitude to all members, and all players who have treated us with respect and embraced our RP. the Reavers could not have been what is has been if it weren't for you all.
It was a difficult decision. It does hurt to say goodbye to Reavers², and I will miss it.
