Video card drivers
I am wondering, what are those drivers for your video cards for? Do they enhance quality of game or something like that, like is their function to improve gameplay and stuff like that, or they are here for some specific things?
If somebody can give me explanation on this I'd be very thankful!

Re: Video card drivers
A video Card driver makes your graphics card more efficient.
Can give you better FPS, a big advantage.
But it can also make your graphics more stable and give you a generally better GFX experience,

Re: Video card drivers
Thanks mate, thanks a lot
I'll describe you a problem why I asked this, maybe u know answer^^(sorry for bothering
):
I tested my PC for GTA IV game on some page where you find out if ur PC is good enough for it...and it all seemed to work fine, but now game(single player) is "laggy"...I downloaded latest patch, and first minute everything ran smoothly. I was in heaven^^. But soon everything got back, don't remember the difference really cause I played mission or 2 without any patches. Now I downloaded 3rd patch(4th was already installed if u read above...) and no changes...I played, at some points it was bit better, but pretty much the same. Now I just downloaded first 2 patches...it might help. That's why I'm asking for this...

Re: Video card drivers
Thats more or less due to system innefficiency.
See what your computers running in the background, that generally happens to slow computer games down alot.

Re: Video card drivers
yea, I just tried out game with those 2 older patches installed, way much better. In "Gameplay", gaming magazine in Croatia(where I live^^), they gave to GTA IV grade 9/20 just because of those problems...so I don't think after all these facts that my PC is the problem...

Re: Video card drivers
Problem with GTAIV that game is totaly unoptimized. So no matter if you have state of the art PC and ATI VGA, you'll have this problems.
BUT, if you have nVidia VGA, you'd see huge difference, 'cos GTA IV is made to runn smooother with nVidias.
What's your PC config anyway?

Re: Video card drivers
well a video card driver is required to use ur graphics card properly, supporting 3D accelerations and those things, IF YOU DONT install them most games wont start, as most games require 3D acceleration
install them, u need it
install them, u need it

Re: Video card drivers
If U havent installed Vid drivers, Yr pc will be able 2 manage only 8bit-800/600 img qualyty without 3D acceleration like Wolfie said.
If game frames, just try play it on a lower screen resolution and lower Vid qualityes in game Video settings...
