My beginner works

Post by Blazefury »

Well, here are some of the sigs i came up with since i started tinkering in Photoshop some days ago. Dont laugh :p

Also,if by some miracle you'll like some of the sigs i post here, feel free to use them in any way you wish,as long as you drop me a post here to let me know :)

Anyway,here they are:

My very first one  :D The Gae Bolg, from Last Remnant :P (made two of these, since i wanted to experiment with making the edges round)  :

Then i made one with Ginoki, one of my fav anime characters, wanted this to look cloudy, kinda failed in the process :

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tried to do a Far Cry 2 one as well, but i kinda overdid the burn effect, and the contrast ended up screwy. I think i should tinker arround with it some more, since more good might come out of it that way :

Edit: Lol, just realised i forgot to add a border to this one ~_~  nub :\
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And that would be it for now; i discovered i enjoy this so i'll do more and more, hopefully improving :). I'd love some input on these,so if any oppinions would be welcome~

The first 3 need a bit more work done to them, although its not a bad start, it seems like you have duplicated the image and made it bigger for 3 parts? Although the colours arent too bad,

The third one looks like you've used a pastel setting? Although it works well with the border. You've used subtle tones quite well.

The third one isn't too bad but it seems as though you've tried to hard to highlight the flames like you pointed out, you gotta watch the flow from left to right if you can,

Although I'm sure you will et much better in time :) good start.

Thanks for the nice input Greaver; atm im just getting used to it, experimenting with layers, renders, effects.

The Donten one,i rly like, but i still feel like im missing something there. I would make it round edged, or add it a very thin border and remove the lines. At first there was blueish stuff, where those clouds are now,i had to clone, smudge and erase to empty the space. But later that day i downloaded some brushes which included some nice clouds, which i then proceeded to add in the empty space. "Donten" means "cloudy weather" in japanese, and i wanted it to give it that feeling, altho it turned out mellow and melancholic instead of something a tad darker i wanted out of it. Meh.

I have trouble remembering when to duplicate/merge layers or create new ones to add effects. I end up ruining them, then i have to restart the work xD

I discovered i love Blur effects and Vector brushes xD It's a very nice pass-time,and the prospect of making awesome looking stuff makes it well worth the time :)

More stuff coming soon :P

Not at all, good art is something to be admired, and you are getting off to a good start, remember to keep looking at new tuts and learning lots of new skills, The hard parts is to combine them all together and make an awesome looking sig. And i'm sure if you put the effort it in we will get to see some very good pieces of work. So keep it up and keep learning :P

Hehe, its gonna take a while for me to get there~

Anyway, here's the next batch of sigs i tinkered arround with today :

-----------------------------------------------------------

Image

Here's the "remastered" FarCry2 sig. Hope it's better :-?

------------------------------------------------------------

Here's a Starcraft 2 marine i've been trying to place in a sig, i made two version of this,i cant decide which is worse/better. I kinda like the first one better

Image

Image

Maybe i should add a large border or something,i dunno,my inspiration went out pretty fast, hehe. Which do you guys think its better?

--------------------------------------------------------------

And here's somehting i made today as well; wanted to experiment with clean backgrounds and brushes on various layers.I found these pretty tricky to make, but also a lot of fun :

---------------------------------------------------------------

And thats about it for today. Gonna try one more and then go for a movie or smth. Practice makes perfect :)

Also,Greave, much appriciated if you could drop a link for a nice tutorial.

Sure thing, I will Drop a few links for you so you can mess around with them, i'ts a great way to learn.

If you don't mind me making some criticism I will help and give you pointers etc, just ask me if you need to know anything. I can send you some Brush sets and stuff etc, but I would recommend stepping away from the brushes and using C4d's on settings such as overlay to make effects.

There are loads of cool things you can do when manipulating C4D's etc. Its just learning and implementing them.

I know,i know, you said no more brushes, but i cant help it; i feel like i should be working with them for a time before trying the c4d's.

So here's a few more sigs which i made with the help of brushes, blur effects and gradients  :

This one i made for a friend of mine, since she really likes Sakura from SF4 :

Image

These other two i made for myself :

Image

^ These both are sets, made av for each one xD

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Image

The last one i made became my fav work up to now; dunno why. I just liked the way it came out
The stock was black&white so it was pretty hard for a beginner for me to work with. Toiled a bit when making the render. Took me about one or two hours; and i also made an av for it,sporting the set here as well,as you can see :p
I wanted to give it a name, and thus,a text,so i decided to go with "Shura" (which means "carnage" in japanese) since the image evokes a bloody mess/fight/has a dark theme. Dunno if it fits well with the sig. I also think i could have used a better text.

Anyway,what do you think?

Thanks for the nice input Xenon; its all about work i think. The more you work with Photoshop, the better you get at it. Considering i've ben using it for uhm 5 days or so,i think i still have quite a way to go before mastering it. Im just taking the first steps now,and its pretty fun xD

Space , planets and somewhere inside Add =ESF=XENON ;)

Sure if Possible  :-SS
PS: i think this will show how much progress you reach now , because making a piece for someone is totally different than making a piece for yourself :D
