looking for writers

Similarly to the thread from way back when (I can't seem to find it), we're looking for some people who could help out with writing for the mod. I thought I'd start a new thread here, because many of the people who've posted there are unavailable since then. So, we're looking for people for two tasks:

- writing text for in-game inclusion
- [s]quality checking for both existing text and new ones (only native speakers of English please)[/s]


If you'd be interested, send in an example please: choose something from the game that you feel needs improvement, or has its description completely missing, and write a new text for it. You can post it publicly here, or send me a PM, either way works. If your application sounds good, I'll let you know if RimShot and Vector also agree to having you on board. (Well, if he didn't, then you wouldn't get forum permissions :P)

@ Xenon and Endymion: okay, I'm waiting for the examples you will write then. Also, it doesn't matter if you aren't a native English speaker, it's just a requirement for QC-ing.

@ Shiverblade: the stuff you linked are stories, not in-game text; read the original post again please.

Also, one important thing to everyone: please don't write about how awesome your faction is compared to the rest of the galaxy.

In game text, what ya mean?

Equipment infocards? storyline stuff?

Infocards, descriptions... if it's text, and it's in-game, and you feel it needs improvement, then write it up as an example. At first, I thought I'd throw in a bunch of names to choose from, but then I realised that letting people choose their own example would be more telling :P

I'll be sending an application and example piece within a few days. I should be able to handle either or both of the aforementioned tasks.

Hmm...for example what u did with the nomad lasers sam? U mean that? For example if i think the Anubis needs a new skin i need to send u a story about how that happened and stuff? And does it need to be writen from a persons eyes, or global person? Or like: Blabla said, blabla said, balabla said?

Can u please define who is a native speaker of English?

In recent years, it has become increasingly difficult to define a 'native speaker of English' and it has become rather ambiguous. There are many arguments for this.

Therefore, I suggest you to change the requirements for Quality Checking or at least make it more clearer.

@ Geromix: heh, I didn't know that there were competing different definitions of the term. I suppose I'd go with the term "mother tongue", and how it's defined atm.
However, based on the current number of applications, I'm not sure we need any more people doing it, so consider that position closed for the time being. We are, however, still looking for more writers :P So, if you wish to apply, send in an example piece please!


Also, out of the applicants who've sent in pieces so far, two people are in already: Crescendo (Koumori) as writer and QC-er, and Comfort as writer. Welcome to the team! Vector will set your permissions once the forum area is complete: until then, we'll keep in touch via PMs.

By the way, Comfort, where's Warcow? I wanted to get in touch with him, as I think he'd make an excellent addition as well, but no luck so far. Think you could drag him here from the fields? :P
