ROGUE and [R] tags
[R] tag role play will now stop and the tag will not be supported by the server anymore for players.
[R] roleplay has always been a method of roleplay which in the main is a selfish method of killing players with no reason. To the community and other players on the server, [R] does nothing to enhance roleplay and it certainly doesnt encourage players to try and play on the server. The usual result of an [R] type pvp is to kill without reason and usually pick on easy targets of players who do not pvp well.
[R] tagged players have 7 days to change their tags via server staff in game, after this we will rename your characters ourselves to eleminate this tag totally.
Whilst there may be in-game server events with Rogue type characters, this will be closely managed and controlled.
The server and players need to adopt more cooperation and help to new or returning players, rather than killing them for fun. This change does not mean this server is going to become a RP server, it means we need to think how our actions affect other players on the server so we can all have fun together.

Re: ROGUE and [R] tags
i agree that [R] players do not help keep new people here, so i agree with the removing of it, at least for the time being. but, i sure do think they have a place in the RP, after all, what are liberty rogues, for example? thus i hope the tag will be returning once we get plyr pop back up

Re: ROGUE and [R] tags
I'm glad that this decision was finally made from which only the server,it's players and RP can benefit/
This should also encourage the "criminals" of the server to create evil/pirate clans instead of solo rampages while being tagged as [R]
Most definately piracy will benefit the most from this change!
Congratulations =D>

LOL
removing the R tag lol WHY?
I never had any problems with them and now the so hated freelancers shootingh eachother without any chance to be tagged with a warning R?
If you do this then make a rule "FREELANCES CAN'T SHOOT OTHER FREELANCERS"

Re: ROGUE and [R] tags
Some things concern me.
First, let's face the facts: the majority of '[R]' tagged players don't know how to do it in the slightest. And this is a fact.
Second, although I don't think completely removing the Rogue tag altogether is the answer, it's not something people should lose too much sleep over.
It's the reasons that are worrying.
However, we can look at alternatives to just cutting the whole RP out. The bad bad things that naughty players do(!!!) as a Rogue, should, in a perfect world, be picked up by an online [VOID] or [ADMIN], and stopped on the spot. But with a lack of active ingame presence, there are large holes for unconstructive gameplay to be carried out through.
Whereas if there were no naughty players in Rogue tags(!!!), the naughty things would be avoided. And this is where I propose an alternative solution:
Make the [R] tag a special tag on the server, where only certain players who have been hand-picked by A/V teams can use it as they can be trusted to commit to the roleplay properly, and in a constructive manner.
Because the truth is, it's a select minority who make things look bad in the eyes of everybody else. By removing their access to such 'things', they can no longer give them a bad name, and the [R] tag is a prime example of this. I strongly urge this solution to be taken into consideration - it could just be the best of both words.
Summary:
-It's only certain people who ruin it
-Don't suck the lifeblood of the Void out just because of this minority
-Don't give 'certain people' the chance to ruin things
-Peace and love in a non-gay way
Piracy is a different discussion.

These stick out most. The beating heart of the Void used to be you can shoot what you like, when you like, how you like, provided it's over level 20 and not reaching overkill. (Overkill: Repeatedly shooting an untagged player who clearly wants to get out of your hair, and hasn't mouthed off at you when the kill was valid. CLAN TAGGED PLAYERS SHOULD NOT GET INCLUDED ON "OVERKILL" RULES - THEY ARE IN A CLAN). However, as you did state, Strail, there are players who go on and arse things up. You know how this can turn out, I know how this can turn out, I think we all do. And that's what we want to avoid, so I can only assume (assuming is bad, kids) that this is the motive for the removal of this tag.rather than killing them for fun

good idea. Why dont make a new RP Tag that do the jobs of an [R]? Like some evil Alienrace or a group of mean ba(l)d sectmembers. And üls support the [A].

Re: ROGUE and [R] tags
Why the panic? The R tag will be gone...but there is still the X tag :D for pirates...and imo it makes more sense than the Rogue tag. In Freelancer universe the Rouges are the Liberty Rouges - a group of criminals operating in Liberty and Independent Systems. So having an [R] sirius-wide Rouge tag in RP makes 0 sense. I like that these tag will be deleted.

Re: ROGUE and [R] tags
Yea I understand the concerns. But dont get me wrong, Im not trying to stop players killing each other.
Im trying to change some things back to a more fun and tolerant server for players to exist on. [R] tag has only been a recent tag in terms of the years void has been around, unfortunately, the [R] tag has been the one that has caused more complaints from players than any other tag. Its also clear that the [R] tag "roleplay" has led to many players leaving the server.
As I have mentioned, this doesnt mean we wont have [R] type events etc.

Re: ROGUE and [R] tags
Since I'm one of the few [R]'s that the VOID staff did not manage to chase away from the server, I feel like I should say a couple of words on this subject:
1. It is you (staff) who made up this tag in your efforts to please a minority of moaners, the players did not come up with this.
2. This is an old game, and if you seriously think you are able to attract good amount of new players you are deluding yourselves; your best bet is to attract former void players whom you've chased away with the constant bullying.
I personally don't care about the [R] tag, but I do think that the server is in one of its lowest points as far as the player count is concerned. Perhaps for once you should seek advice from and listen to the players who have been here for longer than a few week and who have seen the rise and the fall of this server, because the state in which the server is today is mainly caused by unilateral and uninformed decision you've made in the past.
That is all.

Re: ROGUE and [R] tags
I agree with what Zeus said: the removal of the Rogue tag is not an omg thing, but the reasons need to be looked at. Allow me to say something that hasn't really been mentioned in all the rogue debates: it's not just the [R] tagged people who kill freelancers and pretty much anyone without saying a word of warning, untagged players can and do also do it. If that's the reason why the rogue tag is gone, then nothing much will change - they'll just hop onto a freelancer char, and continue doing the same. So, in my opinion, if that's a problem, then that should be addressed, not the rogue tag.
Oh, and before anyone brings it up that we Reavers also do the same thing: yep, but we've also stated that we can get, and pretty much expect, the same treatment in return. In short, to hunt (anyone) and be hunted (by anyone). That fits well with our RP. Regardless, a couple of days ago, we introduced a guideline for our members that untagged players should be given a word of warning before we start shooting them. Clanned ones, of course, are fair game and need not be warned.
Anyway, I'd also support that the Rogue tag (or something new to that effect, like Serial Killer, Terrorist, etc :P) be handed out by admins only. And yeah, as Zsoca said, the tag's name was a bit misleading anyway: the Rogues should be the Liberty Rogues :P (A [N]omad tag might also be a good idea. Killing anyone in silence would fit well with the aliens' RP, though some people would probably complain that they could only use Nomad ships.)
Oh yeah, one more thing I'd like to ask those who were around at that time (since I wasn't): say, wasn't the [R] tag made by players first? At least, that's what I heard, and it'd make more sense than if the server staff suddenly decided that there should be one :P

Re: ROGUE and [R] tags
yes your right, however, it is pointless trying to attract players back when void is the same way as when they left. Changes have to be made and this is one of them.your best bet is to attract former void players whom you've chased away with the constant bullying.
Im guessing that the "deluded" comment is aimed at me as this thread and the reason for this thread was started by me. In answer to your point, I have no illusions of how hard the task is, I also know how hard it will be to attract previous players. The point is that I am trying to do something about it. if nothing is done, the server will be a waste of time anyway, so I'm asking for people to help us turn things around.
I dont care about the history of the tag, I am looking at where we can move things forward and in the right direction. Hence this change, which will be one of many.

Re: ROGUE and [R] tags
Then make nomads unplayable. Make them stronger, and people who have proven to behave normal in an [R] tagg in the past could get a nomad char. Nomad ships are to easy for an alien race that is ''superior'' The only problem would be that they can't dock anywhere. But that should be fixed with adding nomad bases to frequently visited systems.
