For a trial period, this has been changed back, we can then take views on it in a week or so.

My opinion is that anything that makes players stop/ think again or actually refuse to PVP because they might lose everything doesnt sit well with me. This also doesnt encourage avergeg/poor players to get into pvp if they think there going to get beat. we then only have people who think they will win taking part in PVP which is not the right way to go.

The other thing is that players with tons of money dont really have a problem with this as they have plenty of funds, lower level characters dotn have the resource to buy these everytime they die. So it kinda doesnt have an impact on the rich and high level.

I also dont like the idea of players on the fringe of the pvp, tractoring the loot and then selling it on.

So for a trial period we will revert back and take a view on it later and see which is best for the players.

[font=Century Gothic]It seems to force A squadron type environment when fighting Robots and Monkeys. But is costly to less experienced PVP players unless you carry only what you will use. All in all it makes things more interesting for sure[/font]  ;)

I voted yes.
Actually I think you should even lose your ship. Well, game says you died, but you ejected. So I would find quite normal if we had to buy a new ship. It has just exploded, remember?

I know ammo loss is very unpopular and doesn't help newcomers, but encourages piracy and brings a more realistic sense.

If you don't wanna lose your ammo buy just the necessary. There's no need to carry 120 torps, 120 disruptors, etc. Man, if they had their mass activated your ship would be a brick.
U still can have autobuy turned on for countermeesures. Np if you lose them all, they're very cheap.

Or simply don't use rockets!.

Maybe changing the "autobuy" command for "autobuy [what][ammount]+[what][ammount]+etc" will help us a bit.

But to me, what I'm really missing is not autobuy, is AUTOSELL! Tired of selling scanners. ;P

Well then you should loose your credits aswell (game says you died)

Hell, your computer should explode once you get shot down in Freelancer!!!  :P (just kidding mate)

In the solo missions for freelancer you don't loose anything after you die that's why i think that ammo loss or any other loss is unnatural towards Freelancer the original game.

edit:i agree on autosell.

Turn off ammo loss. Turn it off forever. This feature is good only on servers like Discovery where you have PVP not very often. But on PVP oriented servers it is the most stupid feature.

You know, before this was turned off after the poll ran for a day, I wanted to bring up a compromise: how about leaving looting on, but decreasing ammo prices? (Realistically, you'd expect ammo to be quite cheap anyway :P) That way, the possibility of cargo piracy (a lot more lucrative than taxing, not to mention fun :P) wouldn't suffer, and the main argument against looting would be lost as well.
Of course, since changing ammo prices requires a mod update, it would be done for v9 anyway: till then, looting can stay switched off. So, how about it?

For me piracy always was and will be Pirates chasing mostly Traders and asking for tax.(lame,i know)

Well if the ammo gets low priced then why bother atacking fighters for the ammo loot? (selling it won't bring much profit
This will also encourage spam boats with mass torpedo and raks slots wich some pvp ers dont appreciate as very mannered or skilled.

Leaving things as they are right now after the ammo change is fine with me.

You have played on the server recently, haven't you? :P You can mount a maximum of two launchers, so I hardly think that would matter.

And yeah, nobody should have to bother attacking fighters for the ammo loot. Piracy is about stealing cargo from someone and selling it yourself. (Which you can't do unless all their cargo drops on death.) Extortion is threatening people into paying you credits. Ammo looting shouldn't really be a part of this, as ammo shouldn't be that expensive in the first place :P

Oh, and I missed your original remark about the reason for looting. ("Only explanation i could make up is that it was introduce to incourage pirates to attack other fighters( non trader) for looting their ammo. Or it was introduced to discourage mass spam bots with raks and torpedo slots only") Iirc it was originally introduced because players were rolling in cash, and not trading (which is the basis of activity on any server), so to have something they'd regularly spend money on, to have pvp have a bit more at stake, and to encourage piracy as well. Well, there was resistance to the idea even among the dev team, but I still support it. After all, I haven't heard any new players complain about it, only veteran ones - but more importantly, I've never heard anybody say they didn't want to pvp because they'd lose their ammo :P (Just that autobuy buys too many missiles and other stuff. Makes sense if you think about it: 120 ammo is too much for missiles and torpedoes. Fortunately, we now have the tools to set different limits for different weapons.)

Aha yes you're right just checked it-Only two Torpedo/Distruptor/Roket slots available (my mistake)

Cargo loot is fine with me but ammo should remain stored after you die.

edit:If you make trading harder and slightly rise the cost of ammo you'll get more activity on server.
