Am i the only one wondering what the hell is going on?

Strail, can you please answer the questions asked in this thread. Im sure you wouldnt announce such a change without thinking it through.

We all waited for the new mod to be released, you now tell us its going to be changed back to a previous version some time in December.

There are so many questions, can we have some answers please.

The reason for this is in my first post. If you agree or disagree... this is a different matter.
Many of the questions as to what/why are answered in your post - ,
"We all waited for the mod to be released" - yes and no real number of players play it on the server
"you now tell us its going to be changed back to a previous version some time in December." - Yes, because TBH paying a server rental bill for 8 people to play on the server is a waste of everyone's time and money.

As I mentioned before, you can either do nothing....or something. This year there have been 2 mod releases and we still arrive at the number of players on the server. If you do nothing, then you can just carry on making the same mods that people don't play. This is a rather expensive playground to run for a handful of people on the server playing.

There will be answers to specific questions before the mod re-launch. Some I cant answer now because im currently working on the mod.

just passing this message from cmdrsaman:

I wouldn't like to see any of my work on the previous Void mods included in any future versions either. That includes the few retextures I've made, and any text I've written or edited. Sorry, Strail, but if you've decided to paint the mod as the scapegoat for the Void's problems, then you shouldn't get to cherry-pick things from our work on it later.

That is all. Farewell, everyone, and good luck with whatever you decide to do!

everyone has his opinion what went wrong.
imo the mod just needed more time to get fixed, all in all it had great improvements and new features for all types of players. im sure in due time with some advertising the player numbers would have reflected that. not to forget with the support of server staff, thats except alpha and asmo.
what ppl dont know is that the dev team had a lot of pressure and we knew that december was a deadline, but the mod became too big because we wanted to make it as good as possible.

Why are you all competing against one another? Why is there so much back-biting and recriminations? Have you all forgotton that everyone was working towards the same goal, to make The Void better than ever?
You are competing against X-box 360, Playstation and Wii. Stop with the trying to compete with one another as this does not bode well for the future of this community at all.

Its better to keep your mouth shut and give the impression that
you\'re stupid, than to open it and remove all doubt.

It's inevitable, there's gonna be mud on people's faces at this point no matter what. I think I can safely say that this was anticipated. Best to just get it out of the way.

The advertisement for the new mod was very little or unexistant, for a while it wasn't very user friendly to install it either (patches and several different versions available for download). I'm sure if both these issues were addressed correctly we could have seen more players.

For the advertisment:

1) Video trailler; 2) Freelancer and Mod websites updated regularly; 3) Spread the word

For the user friendly install:

Take down all links for previous versions, avoid the use of patches, make it simple. Also, torrents shouldn't be used as they tend to get outdated and still lurk around.
A compiled and simple guide about commons problems on install could help too.

Now, this is the mod I remember and I think I still have it. It was also one of the first/mod servers I gamed on way back when. I will be looking forward to it and the name was then as it is today. Only back then, I was stuck in a Dagger for the longest. :D  It was fun though. B-)

If this is the case then, I'll just wait until this change has been finalized and see you all then.  =D>

If I have to start over, I'll be as equal as the next player this time.  ;) B-)

so been a long time since I actually posted anything on the forums (quitly let myself out a couple of months ago) and tbh this seems like a good time to come back. When I begun to play on Void I remember just getting to see 2112 and loving that, I loved 2115 in the beginning aswell mod wise I think it was cool, however what I did not like and still dislike is the lack of players that emereged at some point after 2115. Sure a mod can be awesome and extremely kewl to play on, but it is nothing if there are no players to play it. And a dwindeling population isn't exactly the best advertiser.

Now what will be intresting to see is if this change can bring back some of the old folks, aswell as maybe drag some new faces into the void.

Cya out there
I would love to keep in touch with people from the Void if you ever transfer onto other games. Feel free to contact me one:

I unfortunately just can't see this going anywhere good.  We are going to toss the currently well balanced ships guns and progress and alienate people who worked hard on the mod in the hopes that alex gates and nomad lasers that are faster will bring people back.  I guess the only logic I can see is that we had the most players during 2112, but it was long ago.  Seems to me the real problem is the dwindling player base in FL in general and peoples apitude to blame everything on everyone else around here.  Once again I really hope I am wrong and that this somehow does get players, but the apparent results atm are not good.

You have to understand that your work has to be sacrificed for the good of this server. You may have tried hard to deliver a good mod but sadly failed.(the online player numbers reflect this)
As for the fact that you don't want any of your work in the next mods...well this just shows how much you care about this place.
Goodbye.

so you got what you want. then you have to play all day when the "new" mod will be released. the only way to proof you are right. if not then you can ... ...
and about cmdrsaman lol he done hell lot of work. The population here is went away way before he even started to learn the development lol. If you can remember the situation is the same more than a year ago.
you must remember the complains about 3D systems you made at least in a hundred post. Now it is all gone and you not even bother to try out the new mission opporunities n so

IMO you failed a pretty big dude by just talking and do nothing. How many bug reports you done ? How many hours you spend to try out all the new features included to the current release for the benefit of the whole void community ??? how many trade routes you found in this release to figure out which is good or not for your taste?

@Luke
You got rid of the buggs
You got rid of the spamm
Im so sorry you left us

The arrogance of most of you is astounding. Sure, by reverting to the "good old days" you will bring back some of the old players, but I don't see how you are going to attract any new ones if your bridge burning, anti-social behaviour carries on.

As cmdrsaman said, don't blame the new mod on the fact that your game is dying of old age. A natural death, by the way. No amount of self centred cyber bullies with a god complex can save it now.
