I dabbled with this last summer, but wound up losing interest as my regular gaming buddy doesn't have this game. I thought I'd try playing again. I was surprised to read on the forums about the shake up that happened.
I played a couple of days last week and enjoyed it. I got to interact with some others who were playing. Folks were nice. One person clued me in on a wrecked ship and gave me a level 10 gun. Another person just gave me an armor upgrade. Wow, can't believe the friendliness. I showed another new person a trade route I had discovered. I enjoyed that.
I'm looking forward to flying with other folks. I would especially like to do trade missions with escorts. Whether I'm flying the escort or the cargo ship.
Still poking around discovering ships and weapons. I'm keeping a spreadsheet of what I've found to try and keep up with it. I started keeping a spreadsheet of commodities, but I've discovered that that isn't worth the effort. Especially since the game keeps up with it.
I've got a mumble server I use for other games. Is there a voice chat server The Void uses? If I start flying with anyone regularly I'd like to use my mumble server for that.
I'm out of town all week and look forward to playing bit more when I get back.

We have had a Teamspeak -server in the past, but i am not currently aware of its status. Maybe if we get the community going once more, adding such thing would be worth to be reconsidered.
