stealing tags and names

if anyone has noticed there has been quite a few players logging on trying to fly tags and names of those of us who have been here some time. the other day there was a player tring to fly a void tag. then one came on with name void. i green some guy tonight who called himself eagleone115. and i seen an asmodeus the other day however that guys has changed his name.

i want to bring this to the attention of the voids an admin and all players because as most of you who have been here awhile know your name is all you have here. and no one wants a noob trying to copy you and doing thing that are wrong and making you look bad.

the funny thing is this players keep trying to copy active players who's names are all over the web page and forums and on the server all the time. so i have to assume that  some of this  is being done on purpose.

any way if you see a player come on in a tag or name and you are sure it is a copy let the player know he needs to change it. if he refuse then turn it over to the voids an admin and they will deal with them. we can work togeather to protect our reps and our names.

Guess what?  I catch 'em they get banned - Simple.  Thanks for pointing this out - its an old problem with stoopid people.  Some may be unaware that they cant have VOID in their name - truth is if they are not official VOIDs then they have no power - so feel free to waste their sorry backsides till they get the message (having warned them first off of course!)

This happened to me too..there was a player with same nick as mine but luckily he wasn't noob and he accepted that I have been using this nick for few years so he changed it. But there're people who do it for their own fun, they just want to copy someone and when you tell them to change their name they won't do it. Like a small boys..

Yea this is kinda pathetic how someone would use another persons name which they have used for some years, what i think is if they dont change the name then just get a few of your buddies and hunt him down till he does...... or u could always go to admin.

yea blazen i agree that is your options. the reason i brought it up tho. was for all of us to keep an eye out for it  and check when we see something that is not right, to just kind of help and watch out for each other. we  always talk about being a community, well this is one thing as a community we can do just to help out all our m8.

so if you see someone trying to copy, let the player know that there is already a a verteran player here by that name and they wil need to change it. if they dont, let the verteran know and a void or admin if they are on.

ps. this is just me but i think it is a good ideal. i dont think anyone should be allowed to use void in their name period. not as tag not even as part of name. for example " voidhelpdesk" this is confusing to new players. they think the person is an offical staff member and they are not.

personally i think players do things like that so they can look like they are staff.  so i would suggest that maybe in the rules there be a little blurp that the titel void not be used in any part of your name unless you are an offical staff member.

Question though: I had a char called 'New_player_info_desk'. You guys think that's ok? I tend to make chars like this when I see a large number of new guys coming on. They never contain any Void-like names, I always make sure of that. Guards seemed to be ok with it.

I do not know if it has been suggested before but how about allowing users to "register" their name or any variation there of with the Void.  A fee could be charged in real money for this, would also help fund the server.  Consider it an insurance policy to protect you name and reputation.  If you call it an insurance policy then the fee could be charged annually like a real insurance policy is paid.

well it seems we still have the problem, i talk to a guy last night who set up a char then less than a week later someother guy copied him. and is still flying the tag. i told him to go to voids or admin. now i come on today and see my secrete trade ship named copied almost perfect he just left off a little. has only been here 49 min. so it tells you how new the char is, the thing is, he has already 1.7 billion credits. so either he dose not know of my char i play everyday for an hour or.. well i hope if i see him he will change it.

I just hope that if anyone is daft enough to use my name then they can also have ALL my responsibilities also. (shopping, cooking, cleaning ironing) and thats only the four main ones I really dislike.

a guy today named his char: Void_Is_Rubbish, and he started to PM everyone, no words but just a space. then everyone muted him(or the most i dunno) and he made void_is_rubbishv2 :S

yea we have a couple of little trouble makers back, coping names, trying to cheat , i seen this guy get kicked for cheating 3 times in a row tonight. not possible cheat but the cheat attampted i told  him no mods and no wep mods and no speed mods or you will be kicked. he then left and never came back lol. plus we had some ugly crashes today and one of the craziest lag spikes i have even seen tonight.

so i guess we have a little loser or 2 of them trying to stire up trouble. geez if you dont like it here go find anouther game that is what i would do, why waist my time.

To echo Eagleone's sentiments:  There are still some who are not flying with the correct mod - this is not rocket science - go to the home page on the web site and down load the correct one please.  I have viewed several players that are being kicked off the system automaticaly for cheating and this is happening several times in a row.  I am going to start banning persistent offenders as you have been told frequently to fix it.  Its a number of things that are doing this and most of them can be fixed.  Once or twice in a row I can understand particularly if you are new here but NOT six in a row AND when you are grouped with an experienced player who should know better - stop trying to circumvent the security here...!   And another warning - anyone that comes on here and starts with the "I can get round it and you cant do a thing about it" comments and posts will be banned - no proof necessary - The fact that you have voiced this stupidity contravenes the whole spirit behind this server and playing this game.  There are also those that have figured out how to manipulate their band width in order to cause lag - this does not have a detrimental effect when one or two of you are doing it - however when a whole clan does it or a group of players are doing it - it can cause the system to crash.  Please stop doing it.  Its not fun for everyone else here - you want to do stupid stuff like that, go get your own server to mess around on...!  Beware - the Stick is in effect.
