A small note

Didn't really know if this is the right section to post the thread; if it's not,i hope an admin will be kind enough to move it to the right section.

So, these days i've started recieving complaints that i lag,and jump arround the screen. Problem is,that for the summer holiday,i moved down in the countriside,and the connection here is utter crap. I am aware that i may lag,especially during crowded battles,which lately i try to avoid.

The connection is a crappy configured LAN,which bandwith is consumed during the day by people that download stuff like crazy. I've tried logging out at early morning hours,and odd night hours,with some small success. However i do want to have a proper fight once in a while,even a 1v1.And of course there's the duty to my clan, i need to be somewhat active on the server.

I just wanna say that i am perfectley aware of my connection acting extremley weird,and causing lag, so please dont go yelling on sys chat. If i do lag for you,simply notify me in a pm,and ill do whatever i can to steer clear from you. I really dont wanna ruin other's people fun.

Whenever everyone tells me i have extreme lag,i usually log out,quit,and try again later.

Do understand that i just wanna play for a bit,an hour,two at tops,so please, if im jumping on your screen,try to cope with it for a while, change the target,or simply let me know, and i will disengage from combat, with no hard feelings.

The nature of this post is not inflamatory,so please do not treat it in kind; it's just a heads up for the people that i usualy run into on the server and end up fighting.

They're just some requests and notifications i decided it was polite to make,since ill be stuck with this connection for almost three months, and i inted to play Freelancer,whenver possible. Of course, i dont expect anyone to cope with extreme lag.

Bottom line is,whenever im in a fight,and im bothering my opponent, a small heads up from the opposition is welcome. And if you can cope with me for a little while, you'll be a sweetheart and will give a poor soul the satisfaction of some nice Freelancer duels.

My lag spikes come at random times,sometimes it goes smoothly when many people are fighting on screen,at other times it spikes in a 1v1. Problem is i dont even see the lag icon notification whenever this happens.

Anyway,hope i did not bore anyone to death with this post, so i will conclude it here.

You are not the only one experiencing this problem - even some of the more experienced players are getting problems, and I include myself in that category.  Be aware that the Ping and Loss measurements are not perfectly acurate for a whole load of technical reasons that even I dont fully understand - however as a base line be aware that the ping element should not be allowed to go over 145 - your /loss percentage is the important one - if you have high ping but 0% loss - you should be ok if you avoid crowded places - however if your /loss command shows even 2% in combination with a high ping you need to log off and come back at a later date.  I am in the process of checking with my ISP to see if its the level of service that Im NOT receiving that could be the problem for me - it fluctuates for me also - this afternoon I was fine with 112 ping and 0% loss - by this afternoon it was so bad that I couldnt even get FLAC /ping command to respond so I logged out.  I will be curious to see what its like at the moment.  

My suggestion to ALL players is that in the interest of fairness if you notice that your lag is bad PLEASE log off and try again later.  Thanks.
