Tbh, i hate rap music

Most people these days are listening what they THINK they should listen. With an overrated ringtone commercial amount ment for KIDS it actually is true xD

I still listen to the better music styles like hardcore and metal.

@ Endymion: "better" music styles? :) In my opinion, there are no such things, only different music styles. You have your own preferences, the kid has his own preferences, so do I and pretty much everyone. There's nothing wrong with that - but please refrain making such statements, as all that can accomplish is a flame war about what music is better, which is pointless, as neither is :P

You're right though that many popular music is too simplistic compared to many other good stuff out there, even from the same genre. (I could make some examples, even from metal and such, but I don't want fans jumping for my throat for that :D) But hey, if there are people who enjoy listening to them, then why shouldn't they? In my opinion, it's a bit like junk food: there are plenty of more rich and healthy alternatives, but eating it is thankfully not mandatory. Still, in my opinion, they shouldn't be banned, as the only problem with the whole phenomenon is that a good number of people are not informed about the fact that there are plenty of other choices, and while they cost more (okay, here's where the metaphor fails :P), those actually have a lot more value and effort put into them. Doing the latter usually pays off :)

Just my two cents. Sorry for not saying a single word about rap / hip-hop :D (Back some years ago, I did enjoy listening to Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, even though I rarely listen to rap.)

Sorry Draugr, but it was a point of view from my side on things. In my point of view, the styles i listen seem better. But in his point of view, rap is better.

BUT What is popular music?

Any music can be popular music, as long as theres a large enough community that likes it, for example classical music can be seen as popular to some extent to whatever era

The music i listen to:

J-Trance (Japanese produced trance)
Dubstep
Dirty Drum n bass/Jungle
Generic chart poprock music ect.....



Genres i hate?

RnB = KiddyCore
These over the top idots posing thinking there hard and buff when in reality its only little 13 year old girls are buying there albums....

Hip-Hop (especially early 90s) material is just amazing, public enemy ect
