Here's a summary of our role, done as answers to a template of questions. (It might be familiar to you: it was posted in the reforms team section, to help clans pick their own role.)
What is the aim of your clan?
To hunt and be hunted. To raid the "civilised" groups, take everything we can from the weak, and fight the strong so we get stronger. To live out the so-called "Madness" that's both different and similar for each and every Reaver. To eat your flesh and sew your skin into our clothing.
Where do you get your members from?
Men and women might go mad from all over Sirius - and then they come to us. We also drive people who we capture mad (if we don't just eat them, that is), but those "converts" never seem to be fit for leading others, only to be used as grunts or pilots.
note: for RP reasons, players from the Reavers clans are considered as leaders of fighter squadrons. So, in a story, it's not "three Reavers attacked the place", but "three squadrons of Reaver ships, led by X, Y and Z, attacked the place.
Which factions do you have as friendly?
The Fugitives. Corsairs are listed as neutral (middle of the bar), and most other unlawful factions as somewhat neutral. (Slightly over hostile.) The Junkers, IMG and Zoners are listed as neutral, though we only land on Freeports, and not Zoner planets inside House space.
Why would those factions have you as friendlies?
The Fugitives are the ones closest to us, and most of them somewhat understand our way of life. In return for their support and resources, we give them plenty of stuff we get from our raids that they need, and we don't: for example, what use would a Reaver have for farming and industrial machinery?
The Exiles, being a splinter faction of the Outcasts, need allies anywhere they can find them, and we've struck a similar deal with them too. After all, they're not above dealing with Reavers when it comes to the one thing they're desperate to get: Cardamine.
We have an understanding with the Corsairs: they leave us alone and let us be based in their space, and we leave them alone and fight our common enemies in the Omegas instead. That allows them to concentrate on other fronts more, like their war with the Outcasts.
Who are your enemies?
From the unlawful factions: the Hessians and the Outcasts. Nomads too, of course.
Naturally, all the lawful and corporate factions are our enemies.
What is the backstory of your clan?
Click here to read a wall of text:
[spoil]Men and women went mad and turned on their fellow humans throughout the ages, but they were never organised, and were dealt with by the majority. However, with mankind having gone to Sirius, there were people who went mad at the edge of space, where they could prey upon the others in lawless space. How exactly the first Reavers found each other and came together as a group of vicious and brutal killers is unknown: though there were rumors about savage madmen on the edge of space, nobody who was supposed to have met them came back to tell the tale. One day, without any warning, the ships of the ones who came to be called Reavers appeared in force and invaded lawful space. The only thing that was known about their identities was that they were led by two especially brutal madmen: Manticore and Vermin.
At first, the Reavers attacked everyone mindlessly, and all attempts at communication were just met with even more violence from their part. Soon, everyone deemed them to be shot on sight, but they still managed to set up a base of operations on the edge of space, hidden near the boundary between Nomad and Robot territories. However, they were always hard-pressed, and at some points, they were pushed back so much that several times, they were even thought to have been gone from Sirius. But just when everyone thought it was safe, they always came back, and over time, they changed. They showed more signs of intelligence (but not any shreds of sanity), and even sought out relations with factions who would even consider cooperation with them, limited as they were. Over time, they stepped up their raids against the colonies, especially Rheinland, where they played a major part in starting the war.
The location of their base proved to be unfortunate, though, as it was constantly besieged by the occupants of the system and the nearby ones. When a group of Reavers scouting for prey happened upon an unknown and damaged sleeper ship in the Omega-41 system, they captured the vessel and slaughtered its inhabitants. Realising the benefits of being based on a starship of that size, and being hidden in lawless space, they migrated there, so that they would be closer to their prey and farther from their stronger enemies. Neither the Corsairs nor the Zoners were happy about their arrival, but the Zoners could hardly do anything to stop them, and the Reavers struck a somewhat uneasy truce with the outlaws. Now, when they are not raiding the systems of the colonies, they fight their enemies close to their new home.[/spoil]
Why did you pick your home system?
Explained in the backstory above.
