He's giving the ants too much. They'll surpass and enslave us.

Interesting, though. If it's expanding, what is it expanding into?

I find it endlessly interesting to listen to his lectures. He is one of the few scientists who sees things not from the human perspective, but with a really open mind. A lot of other people base their theories on looking at it from a human point of view, taking into account what we know of the universe, the speed of light, other dimensions, and other important scientific topics. They always seem to forget that technological advancement on Earth has only been around for a couple of decades, which is no more than a split second if you look at the age of the universe.
Like he said, humanity is arrogant. We always think we know it all, and somehow we keep forgetting about all the times we have proven ourselves wrong. Not too long ago, people thought we would never be able to fly. But we could, and proved ourselves wrong. Shortly after, we thought that you would blow up if you went any faster than the speed of sound. It was deemed impossible. We proved ourselves wrong again. Now people think that we can't go any faster than the speed of light, and there's no intelligent life beyond that on Earth. And we will prove ourselves wrong again.
You would think we would have learned from past experiences. But we keep thinking that we have figured it all out time and time again. We assume extraterrestrial life needs water to exist. We think other beings would communicate using radio signals. We are sure that the speed of light is the absolute maximum. And we assume that other life forms would be interested in communicating with humanity, while we have just set our very first baby steps in the realm of technological advancement.

We are arrogant. I always wonder when we will learn to look at things we don't really know anything about yet with an open mind. Like Michio Kaku. I believe it is only then that we will make real progress.

Cheers.
