Re: Antivirus issues
Norton is still suspicious though because my friend could not get it to allow freelancer even when it was in the exeptions list.

Re: Antivirus issues
I use Avast Profesionall from 2 Yrs of playing FL. Never had a problem with it, but watch out at the settings.
I use Avast on XP & on Vista 2.It is very efective with unknown infections 2.send them in quarantine, and after the proper update, U could repair them. & it is very acurate with the detection, cause it dont announce U : prbly an infection, it told ya -"xyz vir, throjan or..."with "#$@code & signature"specially good in finding crack infections, cause false alarm rate is Vlow...It have a Virus Recovery data base module, wich will scan Yr entire hard , & when he find an unwanted change in Yr registry structure, it treate it as unknown malware, & will advice U 2 send it in Quarantine till the proper update that alow him 2 recognise the infection.Quarantined folders works Vwell with the whole Sistem.
NOD is highly effective with known signature infections, but quite weak with the unknown malwares. But is a Vgood antivir.
AVG internet security, has a "gaming mode "setting in the Firewall mode.It also works well with Games, including FL, but it need more resources then Avast or Nod. The AVG freeware, is the "peacefull antivir"At many of my friends, AVG founded the OS as a virus...

Re: Antivirus issues
I had to remove Norton Internet Security 2008 the other day and since I still had 250 days on the account I replaced it with Norton Internet Security 2010. Today I decided to load up the single player version and on a whim I tried to connect to the Void and what a surprise I can connect. Do bad it had been so long that my characters were auto-deleted! At least I can get back on with Vista and Norton 2010. If you have a current subscription to Norton go to their website and download the Norton removal tool, when your computer restarts you will be directed to download the 2010 version and will be able to connect again.

Re: Antivirus issues
nod 32 ftw, and I only leave norton on the list because someone had problems with it - but you should be able to put freelancer on the exeptions list.

Re: Antivirus issues
when an antivirus block FL, you can ever unblock it from your windows firewall, just to do a new rule for it ;)

Re: Antivirus issues
With Norton 2008 even adding a rule would not allow you to connect. With Norton 2010 no rule is needed, it automatically allows FL to connect.
